There are times in our lives where we may find we need physiotherapy following from an accident. Or even an illness that has left you needing to regain mobility. Or if you play sports you may find you are in need of a sports massage.
I am looking at the differences between a sports massage and physiotherapy.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy incorporates an in-depth assessment and diagnosis, which is usually carried out in your first appointment. You will then be given a range of techniques and/or treatments that are specifically designed or reduce pain, which has occurred through injury or degeneration in –
- Muscles
- Bone
- Joints
- Soft Tissue
A treatment plan will be created and regular appointments, to ensure that your body is rehailitated in the safest way. Also to prevent re-occurrence through stretching, stabilisig and strengthening the affected area.
What is Sports Massage

A sports massage involved manipulating soft tissue. Called a sports massage as it benefits a person who does regular physical activity. Designed to help in correcting problems and imbalances found in soft tissue, which is caused from strenuous and repetitive activity.
How to Choose the Right Physiotherapist for You?

Like with anything, you need to find someone who specialises in the treatment you are needing. Also someone who is local to you, as you will not wanting to be travelling for miles before or after a session. These are easy to find by searching on Google. For example Physiotherapy Manchester.
Conclusion: The Benefits

My husband had physiotherapy following an accident at work, where he damaged his knee. His work arranged the physiotherapy sessions, which took place weekly. Each week he would be given exercises to be done during the session. Plus those he could do at home.
C was sent for Physiotherapy due to her illness, which was the wrong timing for her as she was in a crash.
Physiotherapy, if you do the hard work of the exercises and treatments recommended will get your mobility back, or depending on the reason to as much as you can. It is hard work but worth the hard work and tears.
Have you ever had physiotherapy?

I am fortunate to have never yet needed it but I can see that changing soon. I suffer with sciatica and when that comes on, it is so so painful so I guess phsyiotherapy may help.
I have never had to have it either, but my husband and daughter both have. It is great to help when you do need it though
Physiotherapy is important, though it can be a struggle and difficult at times
It can be a struggle, but worth keeping going as it does help
