My Autumn Survival Kit

Day 16 of Blogtober 2026 and today the topic is to share My Autumn Survival Kit.

Before we start I suppose I have two kits, my at home kit and my handbag. My handbag has always been used not only for the general things like phone, keys and purse. It has always had dual purpose for carrying other things, even my husband would give me his wallet to take care of at times.

At Home

If you are anything like me you will literally have something to cover any medical problem at home. I also always update my survival kits depending on the time of the year. For example in the summer it will include sting and bite cream, aloe vera etc

When the seasons change I am there updating my survival kit . In my Autumn kit you will find

  • Pain Relief
  • Flu Relief – capsules or powders
  • Tissues
  • Vapour Rub
  • Lemon Juice and Honey – for hot honey and lemon for coughs and colds
  • Vitamins
  • Cough Syrup
  • Thermometer

I always make sure these are in the house as you just never know when you will come down with something. The last thing you will want is to drag yourself to the shops

My Handbag Survival Kit

I always get moaned at for the weight of my handbag. Along with the usual purse, keys phone etc I also have my little survival kit I carry around with me. This has always helped me and others in the past.

  • Hairbrush
  • Lip Balm
  • Tissues
  • Lip Gloss
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Pain Relief
  • Plasters
  • Mirror
  • Safety Pins

So many times I have come to the rescue of friends and family when we are out. I have a little pouch that I keep everything in and swap from bag to bag.

  1. It is always good to have things on-hand that make life easier! I find I need chapstick on the autumn months and can never located any. Maybe building a little survival kit would help.

  2. The products inside of the first aid kit are items I can get behind. I especially like to have vapour rub on hand during cold/flu season. I also drink hot water with lemon juice when my throat feels scratchy.

  3. I always end up with way too much stuff in my purse but it has all that I need. I too always make sure to have a really good first aid kit on hand as you never know when you may need it. Love this and I need to up my game with my push contents LOL.

  4. I always thought that once the kids had grown I could go back to a tiny handbag…but no, like you I have a complete survival kit in my bag. I have a pannier for my wheelchair when I’m going to be out longer than usual. I do still end up carrying things for other people. I’m glad I’m not the only one ready for anything.

  5. I keep all of these in my purse at all times. I would never go anywhere without them, especially the lip balm in the winter and the hand sanitizer year-round.

  6. Ooh just like me. I don’t know how people manage with a tiny bag. Maybe it’s from when I had all seven children at home but like you I have rescued many a person with supplies from my handbag!

  7. im with you on handbag survival – have been well known i carry everything – unfortunately ive had to take stuff out as im struggling with the weight of my bag
