Today is day Blogtober 2026 Day 15 and the prompt I have chosen for today is What’s one thing you’re letting go of this autumn?
I think this can also go hand in hand with my Day 6 post about feelings. For Autumn I am letting go of feeling obliged.

One reason myself and my husband worked well together is because we had the same values and outlook on life. If we said we were going to be there we would, even if one of us really did not feel it.
As a couple you tend to have a lot more things going on, with socialising and more. That sometimes you just want to say no and have a cosy night in. Just grab a takeaway and put on that series you want to watch. Because you keep saying yes, you always feel obliged to go out
Saying No

Since being on my own and having my own life to think about. I have found it easy to say no to things. When my husband was alive I always felt safe and protected when we were out. I never had to worry about getting home late at night or feeling safe walking to a venue, he always had my back.
When you are suddenly put into a totally new life, where it is just you. You change, you have to as no one cares about you like he did. No one will notice if you do not get home after a late night out. All those little things you just take for granted.
Which is why saying no has become a lot easier for me. I do go out and I do enjoy those times. But I also have my journey home planned and make myself as safe as I possibly can.
To me it is not being selfish it is how I survive and with this it does bring me more confidence as well. Plus the darker, colder nights are coming which makes it much easier to say no.
What are you letting go of for Autumn?

It is so important to know when to say no and to allow yourself to say no! Social obligations are like a dozen tiny strings, holding you down.
I am finding it easier to say no now and feel less guilty about it
I love this idea so much and what an incredible thing to let go of for October. I am all for this and I honestly have no issue any more with saying no if I am not up to it. Some may not like it but it is what it is LOL.
I always took on way more than I could really handle. I was totally overwhelmed and burnt out all the time, and it meant I had to give up the things that I enjoyed.
It is hard to take on things and not feel you can say no
Saying No is the hardest for me but I am getting slightly better at it. I’ve always wanted to help and please people even at my own expense and that’s not healthy at all.
It is not healthy and it is ok to say no and put yourself first
I am getting much better at saying no and at standing up for what’s best for me and my family. Still a terrible people pleaser though.
I have to admit I am the same but am starting to feel less guilt in saying no
Saying no does sound like a good one. I have always been one of those people who gets told that I am “too kind”
I always get put on the spot and feel obliged and end up running errands and constantly doing favours for other people.
It is hard to say no but I am starting to feel better at saying no and less guilty
Letting go of obligation is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Mainly because most of our obligations are self-imposed.
It is good to clear yourself of them and only do what feels right for you
took me a long while to say no without An explanation – you can do it too – not everyone understands but im ok with that now
I am at a place now where I can say no and everyone has to understand
