I have to admit it, I am a terrible hoarder, where my husband hates it. Don’t get me wrong my house is nothing like those you see on the tv shows. I just hate throwing things away. So every now and then we say it is time to declutter.
I am not as bad now as when the kids were younger. I used to keep all sorts of little treasures they had made.

One thing we always look at when having a big declutter is skip hire. Which is why I currently have a skip sat outside my house We literally go through the whole house, and I am ruthless with what I throw. My husbands motto is if it has not been used in 6 -12 months bin it.
We have also got C a new bed, so her old one will be going on it as well. Which saves a trip to the rubbish tip.
One area we are lacking is storage in our home. Strangely this is why we, well I hoard things. As I hide them away for looking through at a later date and forget about them.
Storage
We have become very creative with storing items around the home. Depending on whether it is Summer or Winter we store our clothes we are not wearing.

We can store these under the spare bed so they are not in the way. These are great for keeping items clean and dirt free.

We use storage cubes from Lifewit in both our bedroom and C’s bedroom. It keeps things tidy and hidden away. But in a place where you know you can find them.

I have these for my lounge, to keep fleece blankets and general bits in. They have made a huge difference with everyone using them.
Next year we will probably have another declutter or sort out. One thing I do know if when we do is that it will be another small skip.
Do you love a good declutter? What are your storage tips, as I am always looking for new ideas.

Great tips.
I love a good declutter. IT feels so good after and you can also make quite a bit of money selling your unwanted items. one mans trash is another mans treasure.
Totally agree and also gives you a bit towards new items you are looking to get
I am definitely the hoarder, though I have got better at throwing things our or gifting them to others/charity who would get more use, my main issue is with fleece throws which I always claim are for the cats so the sofa doesn’t end up covered in fur ha x
You sound like me, although it is my daughter who steals my fleece throws so I have to buy more
Wow – you’ve made me feel guilty! These are great options for storage. But, there are so many bits and pieces I need to go through and take to charity shop. I don’t believe in throwing away – we have to think about the planet. Someone’s rubbish is another persons treasure! Most of my purchases are 2nd hand.
I agree with you, I have given away to charity shops everything that was useable
I have a massive problem with clutter, this will help motivate me
We have a skip full and feel so much happier, although C’s old bed and our old sofa is on it
Oh god my whole house is full to the brim with stuff! We dont have much storage space so I have invested in various plastic boxes and I find shelves are good in the kids bedrooms. I would love to hire and skip and just get rid of it all haha.
We have little storage as well, finding the right storage is the best solution
Ive been decluttering this year,as redecorating my home this year,i’ve made some money on 2nd hand items, which has helped x
It is always great to declutter and a great time to redecorate as well, selling unwanted items is great for helping to go against the costs as well
I love decluttering!
