Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 16/09/2026

Somehow another week has passed and we are at Wednesday, only two days until Friday when C will be coming home. This also means it is time for my weekly round up Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 16/09/2026

My Week

This Week

This week has been very up and down. But one thing it has been non stop.

Health

I had my ultrasound scan last week on my toe. I did feel foolish going for a toe though. The results are back and I have to wait 6 weeks to speak to my GP about it. Yes I have queried it. I have looked on the test results and know what they have found. There are a few options for treatment so Google tells me. One thing is that I am glad it showed something and is not in my head.

My Dad

Sadly, my poor old dad has been the reason for a lot of stress this week. On Monday, we headed out to a cafe for a group session meeting with others who have had similar surgery. A chance for everyone to talk and not feel so alone. He sat there not joining in and leaving us to do the talking.

Yesterday, he had an appointment at the hospital with the dental team about reconstruction in his jaw and mouth. For months I have been like a stuck record about him doing his exercises. I have kept saying they will not be able to do anything if you do not start doing them fully and properly. Yesterday he was told he has to do his exercises as at the moment they will not be able to do anything. This caused a lot of stress in the house last night.

The Big Move

Saturday was the day C was moving to her university accommodation. There were riots going on so she had the chance to go crack of dawn early or the next day, or keep as it is. C kept her slot and off we headed. We were half an hour late due to traffic. Got told where to park and that we had half an hour. I went to find a trolley and found C could check in there as well. Rang and messaged her and she had gone the other way.

I eventually got a trolley went back to the car then went to find C. At this point the protest was coming down the road, I have not moved so fast in ages and got behind the wall, it was quite scary. The move went well, and we took C out for dinner before she headed to her accommodation and we headed home

A Week In The Life Of Biscuit

Biscuit - 14 weeks

Biscuit is now much better and allowed to go out to play, rather than be stuck indoors.

  • Wednesday – So they took me back to the place called the vets. I do like going there as I get lots of fuss and everybody loves me. Then they tricked me again and stuck another needle in me. After that we came home and I played
  • Thursday – I was allowed to go out again so my humans decided to take me to my favourite shop Pets At Home. They were going to buy me waterproofs as I do not like the wet. But they only had one in my side that was broken. I was happy as it means they will have to let me stay in when it rains (I hop). I did get some new balls as my favourite game is chasing balls
  • Friday – I had a play date with my friend Dotty. She is a couple of months older than me but so much fun. We played for over 2 hours and my humans thought I would be shattered. When we got home, they had to go out food shipping. They decided to just block off to keep me in the dining room and kitchen instead of putting me in my pen. I did lay down like a good boy, and they were not gone for ages. When they got home I was so pleased to see them. I was waiting at the top of the stairs for them like a good boy.
  • Saturday – There was lots of moving stuff outside. I even escaped once to help (they did not seem to need my help). I was then left with my grandad for months – I was ok though as did get fed and played with so I did not starve. I was so excited when my human came home. I have not seen the other one yet – I think they may have lost her somewhere
  • Sunday – We had a very chilled day. Although I was taken out for a walk I was very wary as I just had one of my body guards with me
  • Monday – I was left alone in the pen again as everyone went out (I did have Bear to keep me company). I wish they would stop going out and not coming home for months I was hungry as not had my lunch and the treats they left were gone . Oh and they keep buying things on Vinted and a waterproof came today – I tried to run away with it but they caught me
  • Tuesday – Can you believe I was left stranded for months today. They went out again and left me starving not knowing when someone would come back. I was big and brave though and survived. I did get lots of cuddles when my humans came home

  1. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad and hope that he starts doing this much needed exercises. I can imagine the toll it takes. On a positive notes…. I am loving those adorable pictures of Biscuit! So cute!

    1. My Dad just seems in his own little world, but it is taking a lot out on my mum and it is hard going with the pair of them. Biscuit has had another busy week

  2. It feels like you cannot catch a break between your dad’s health and everything that’s been going on! The protesters sound very frightening, and the rush! I hope C settles in well though.

  3. Sounds like a really stressful week for you with your dad and the riots with C moving in. I bet it felt so strange after you came home after dropping C off. Hope she has a fab time x

  4. Another busy week for you , what with problems with your Dad and C starting university. Glad to see Biscuit is feeling better

  5. Biscuit is so ridiculously cute! I hope you manage to get your Dad to another group session. Hopefully the more he goes the more comfortable he’ll be sharing and chatting to others.

    Claire. X

    1. Biscuit is too cute, although I was not thinking that last night but we have made friends again now. My Dad is a work in progress he does not help himself though

  6. Pleased to hear C’s move went okay. What a day to start Uni! Sounds like Biscuit is doing his best to keep you busy. Hope you get answers with your toe and that your dad starts to do his exercises properly!

    1. The move went great in the end which was good. Biscuit is keeping me very busy which I need. Dad is starting to realise he needs to do these things I have been nagging about multiple times a day for months

  7. Such a relatable read! you have a packed week! Life of a mom definitely can be overwhelming and it’s a huge help to take a pause, breathe, and recharge! Remember that we don’t have to have everything figured out all at once.

  8. It’s amazing how quickly the weeks seems to fly by, especially when there is so much going on with family and everyday life. Sending many prayers up for your dad and you,

  9. I’m sorry to hear your dad is fighting with you about his physical therapy. I know in the end it’s his choice to do it or not and face those consequences, but it’s still hard to watch.

    1. It is the effect it is having on my Mum as well, that is making me angrier with him. He just does not see it, but I can see he is trying now which is something

  10. It’s weird to have an issue like the toe thing you’re having now. It’s one of the few times where you’re thankful something’s wrong in an odd way.

    1. My toe has never been right since I broke it, in a strange way I am glad they found something. I have looked it up and seen what google says about treatment, so once I have spoken to my GP I will either leave things as they are and just live with it or have treatment – one is breaking and resetting which I do not want

  11. Oh, crikey. I wouldn’t be thrilled about having to navigate a protest, either.

The big move must have been quite emotional for you both. In many ways, it’s the true end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood. I remember my first day in uni halls. So exciting!

    1. I am so glad we parked when we did and was safe behind railings, the noise was scary though. I was emotional and it was hard driving away but so proud of her and she is having a great time

  12. It sounds like you’ve had a busy yet stressful week! It’s frustrating when you have to tell someone to do something to help with their health, but they’re being stubborn about it! x
