Meet The Blogger - Valerie

Following on in my Meet The Blogger series, today I am introducing you to Valerie, who blogs over at V De Kermoal.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

I am a French expat mum who has previously lived fourteen years in Asia (Hong Kong, South Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore), a few years here and there (in Croatia and Belgium), but who wound up eventually in the Netherlands.

I have launched a blog that is especially designed for time-poor mothers with a desire to learn more about the world and themselves from a philosophical perspective. I take theories from philosophers, like Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Kant to name a few, along with those from the HR industry, and bring them to life in a simple and humorous way.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started blogging when I was living in Singapore ….10 years ago! At that time I was single and quite bored at my job. I was working for the French Embassy and it was too corporate. I wanted to unleash my creativity.

HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

My current blog is only 2 moths old. Having said that every time I publish an article, I learn something new. I am understanding more and more what people want to read.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

Yes, each time I get trolled. Because I get criticised for the strangest things. Recently, I got a few ladies getting sincerely cross at me because I used the expression ” falling pregnant”. They “kindly” explained to me that was not English. It is… But what can you say… Another time, I even got criticised because I wrote that one of my characters, called Cuckoo, was to be blonde-haired and blue-eyed. I did not think that this could be offensive to describe my character as blonde-haired and blue-eyed.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

Each time I wonder if I should continue blogging.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?

write, write, write. Not very original, but it is the only way.

WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE BEFORE YOU STARTED?

I realised how ambitious I am. This is the first time I really want to succeed in something.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

Kissing my daughter in her neck, drinking champagne, and watching my partner cook- he cooks so well.

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?

Invest it in real estate. I am being so pragmatic, but I have a daughter. I can not have fun with money anymore.

I love posts like this and getting to “meet” and find out more about a blogger behind their blog. I don’t think it matters how old your blog is, there is always something new to learn as we adapt and grow!
