Meet The Blogger - Carol

Meet The Blogger – Carol

Today I am introducing Carol from Virtually Allsorts

Meet The Blogger - Carol

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

My name is Carol and I write my blog Virtually Allsorts, which is about reading, writing and well-being.

HOW OR WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

My very first blog was actually about baking, which I tried to get back to when our now 9-year-old was born. I knew zilch about the tech side (or community side of blogging) and my mummy blog was born soonish after.

HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED IT?

Totally! I knew nothing about anything really. I just published and hoped for the best. Not much community knowledge, not much engagement and had no clue what hashtags or SEO were! My blog today is totally revamped. Virtually All Sorts went self-hosted a few years ago and my niche has totally changed! It literally used to be about ‘virtually all sorts’, so everything! But I’ve niched down to reading, writing and wellbeing, all of which I’m very passionate about.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE YOU STARTED YOUR BLOG?

I’d say the community and how joining in with linkys opens up so many wonderful blogs, many of them funny.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE YOU STARTED BLOGGING?

A coding error meant my side bar moved very recently. The backups didn’t help and I was just like ‘ugh!’.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?

Be yourself. Seriously just type how you would talk and engage lots on 1 or 2 platforms. Don’t spread yourself too thin.

WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED BLOGGING?

How many brands and PRs think we know nothing about no-follows and a bit of negotiation can work in your favour. Basically, know your worth.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

Read, read, read! And a bit of writing and meditation/reiki too.

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?

Make it my full-time job. Wow, what a thought!

WHO IS YOUR BLOGGING HERO AND WHY?

There are so many bloggers that I look up to for so many reasons but Aby Moore from You Baby Me Mummy and the Mamapreneur Revolution has sooo much knowledge and works so, so hard.
