I recently had a day out in London, with my husband, Although we do not live too far from London, and we visit London a few times a year. We decided to have a look at What To Do In Kensington London,and explore a different area to where we usually end up.
Kensington is quite a large area and we did not explore as much as we would have liked to. We definitely need to head back again, and this time I will be looking for hotels in Kensington, so we can plan our trip more effectively.

Kensington Olympia
We started our visit by getting the train to Kensington Olympia, which on the day we were there was hosting Ru Pauls Drag Con. As we left the station the street was full of people who were visiting the show, with a lot of them dressed up in celebration.
I loved walking through the crowds, hearing all the chat and seeing all the happy faces, what better way to start our day exploring Kensington.
We had planned to start our journey here and then walk the entire length of Kensington, but we soon realised that this was not going to happen, when we found the Design Museum.

Moving To Mars
As they are hosting a Moving To Mars exhibition, they have a model of a rocket launcher outside as well.
The exhibition shows how the journey to the Red Planet has become one of the great challenges of our time. Through immersive recreations and new commissions, you an discover how every details of this extraordinary mission must be designed. The exhibition lets you travel to Mar without leaving London and is a multi-sensory adventure for all ages.
Although the museum is free, if you wanted to see this exhibition you had to pay. Which was £16.00 per adult and £8.00 per child on a weekday, or £18.00 per adult and £9.00 per child at the weekends. The exhibition runs until 23rd February 2020.
The Rest of the Design Museum
After visiting the exhibition, we made our way around the rest of the museum. There is a lot to see here. We found it fascinating going back to our childhood and reminiscing over items we had in our homes when we were younger. And how technology has changed.
Taking a break
After leaving the museum, we decided to get some lunch and found a lovely restaurant called Dirty Bones.
After a much-needed pit stop, we headed along Kensington looking in the shops on the way. Popping into shops we had not seen before.
Unfortunately, as we spent so much time in the Design Museum, it was starting to get dark and we decided to head home.
We had planned on walking further to where Kensington Palace is and past Kensington Park where Queen Victorias statue is situated. This is also where you will find The Royal Albert Hall.
If you carried on walking a little further you would have arrived in Knightsbridge where Harrods is found. We had a trip here before Christmas and I would recommend everyone to visit Harrods and wonder around their many halls.
If you are planning a trip to London, why not visit the Kensington area. With so much to do, plus shopping and places to eat or grab a coffee you will have a great day.

I was at the Design Museum in April for an exhibition
ages since I’ve been to London – many of these places I’ve never seen – would love to visit soon
We are only about 20 minutes on the train from London, there is so much to do and see that I have still not seen
I had not hear of the Design Museum. I love seeing items from my childhood as they bring back to many memories!
We had not heard of it before and did have a lovely time there
Next time you visit Kensington, you should definitely make a visit to Holland Park. It’s a beautiful park with a Japanese garden hidden in the middle and very picturesque.

I love Kensington, especially the Design Museum. We also love the V&A, Science Museum and NHM!
We love those as well and spent many hours there in the past, but neither of us had been to the design museum before

I would love to visit the design museum. My son had a Saturday job in Harrods when he was at London university. It is an amazing shop.
It was a real nostalgia place to visit when you look back at things from your childhood. Harrods is an amazing shop we saw a tv there for £109,000
You know what, lived in London for 7 years and I never made it here! The design museum looks great!
We usually end up Covent Garden area, but there is so much more to do and see x
Oh this sounds amazing, we had a weekend in Kensington a couple of years ago and it was such an amazing place i only wish we could have spent longer there

We love Dirty Bones and have visited quite a few times on our trips to London. We were also at London Olympia last week for the Toy Fair 2020!

I love the city but have never really visited the Kensington area. It looks great and the design museum will definitely be added to my ever growing ‘to do list.’
