So You’re Going To Be A Dad Book Review

I recently received the book You’re Going To Be A Dad by Daddilife Books, to review. Although I am not going to be a Dad and am not having anymore children.  I have seen my two sons become Dads, and how they have coped with Fatherhood. As I have not been too well recently, it has given me time to sit and read this book from cover to cover.

You're going to be a dad book

When I became pregnant with C, I had support from pregnancy magazines and online forums (who I am still friends with those I met on the forums). We also have our Mums and friends to talk to and confide our worries in.  Believe me you worry from that pregnancy test kit all the way through pregnancy and beyond.

But, what about the Dad’s to be, what support do they have?  This book has everything they need to know and probably things they never thought they needed to know.

The book is split into sections from the first trimester all the way through the first year. In putting this book together to help first time Dads, Daddilife Books interviewed other first time Dads and Dads to be.

First Trimester

The book is split into weeks and has a checklist for you to tick off.

I love that the book explains that for some getting pregnant is not as easy as you would think.  I have often spoken about our struggle to conceive our daughter, having lost 8 babies before and being very closely monitored throughout my pregnancy. `It is good to know that others are struggling, as you know it is not just you which you do need to hear. The first trimester covers

  • Conception
  • Food & Drink
  • Implantation
  • Baby Growth
  • And more

Second Trimester

The second trimester, you will find more things going on, as the baby grows and the bump starts growing overnight. The second trimester covers

  • Sleeping
  • Pregnancy Brain
  • Pregnancy Pains
  • And more

Third Trimester

This is the final trimester, as you start to prepare for the impending arrival of your newborn in three months. The bump is still growing, and the realisation kicks in even more.  The third trimester covers

  • Classes
  • Baby movements
  • Baby Showers
  • Nesting
  • Birth Plans
  • And more

The book then talks about the birth and then being parents to this newborn baby and coping during the first year.

My Opinion

I have read the book from cover to cover, and it covers everything you could possibly want or need to know. Plus comments from other Dads.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has just found out they were going to have a baby. Plus it also talks about COVID so as I said it covers everything.

The book is available to buy from Amazon

It sounds a really useful book for any first time dads. There are so many parenting books out there but nice to have one from a dad’s perspective with real life experiences in it too.

This is such a great book. We bought one from a friend who’s having his first child. I’m sure he will find it really useful.

What a great idea – there’s so much out there for mums… dads do often get overlooked here.

They do which is unfair really, as dads are going through the same emotions and questions as well

That looks like a quite pleasing book to read. Certainly very helpful for first-time dads.

So great to see a book specifically aimed at dads – they need the support just as much as mums do!

They do and this one is great and realistic with input from other Dads, rather than the idealistic views on becomming first time dads.
