Meet The Blogger – Violet

Following on in my Meet The Blogger series, today I am introducing you to Violet who blogs over at Violet Glenton.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

I amm Violet, a UK lifestyle blogger. I’m born and bred in Hull and very proud of it! I write about anything from clothing to locking myself in the cupboard cause my son had a tantrum .

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

To have my own space where I felt I could write about what I was passionate about. I wanted to use my creative skills that I felt were lacking in my job as a business development manager. I love it!

HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

Yes absolutely! I’d say it definitely looks a lot tidier and runs more smoothly. I primarily wrote about fashion and that’s changed a lot too. You’ll find diverse topics and a lot of humour throughout my posts.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

Oooh dear let’s think. Possibly an underwear collaboration offer that I declined ever so politely saying “I don’t think you’d want me in my kegs on the internet ” – humour never fails to impress the potential clients haha!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

Making a couple of bad choices in terms of layout and coding. It took me about 3 weeks to rectify a problem I’d created by trying to do something myself. In the end I sought professional advice and it was fixed within minutes.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?

Write about what you love and don’t focus on the numbers. I think whatever you write about, you’ll find your audience and if that audience is yourself then as long as you love writing about what you’re doing it will never matter.

WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE BEFORE YOU STARTED?

The competitiveness! I knew there were a lot of bloggers but I didn’t realise quite how unfortunate it could be when bloggers fall out over collaborations.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

I walk my miniature schnauzer, bake cakes obsessively and take my son Jasper to the park.

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?

Pay off the mortgage and book a big holiday!

WHO IS YOUR BLOGGING HERO AND WHY?

Oooh tough one. I love Chloe Plumstead because her writing style is so beautiful and I like how she approaches topics.

Great to read about this blogger! Love her sense of humour. It is surprising what brands think we would love to review. Great response!

Brands do come up with some great review products and then there are the ones you look at and think how do I respond

She’s so right about writing what you love and are passionate about. The numbers will follow if you show your passion and others are interested x

Lovely to hear more about your blog Violet, I love posts like this where you can find out about a blogger behind the blog! Your blog sounds like something I would love so I will definitely head over and check it out! Great advice for new bloggers too, I always say let your audience find you don’t go looking for them!
