Life After Lockdown Linky – Week 78

Week 78 of Life After Lockdown, well from when we first went into Lockdown.  From the beginning of lockdown I have been taking part in a linky where we answer questions of how the past week has been.  Originally in lockdown, and now after lockdown. How has your week been? Read on to see how my week has been.

For those wanting to take part the questions are

1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

week 78

1) How are you feeling/coping?

Shattered is probably the easiest way to answer that, no news on what is going on with me but still in pain and discomfort, which means I am grumpy.

C has an informal interview tomorrow for her course, so should hopefully have a start date tomorrow.

 2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?

I think a few of you would have seen my tweets over the weekend.  It was our 19th wedding anniversary yesterday, and we went away for a weekend to Liverpool to celebrate.  The hotel was disgusting, and the management were awful, we literally had no sleep as I could not begin to imagine what the bed was like judging the state of the rooms.  My husband spent Saturday looking for a different hotel but they were all full.  I have emailed their head office and CEO, but you can see why over on Twitter.

3) What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?

Be respectful to others, and always carry a mask and hand sanitiser with you

4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?

Be aware of your surroundings and those around you, carry a mask even if you do not wear one all the time, and make hand sanitiser your new best friend.

5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?

I have been away and also busy with other things, so had most of the past week away from working

6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

My daughter and that I must be doing something right

7) What has made you smile this week?

Again C, I can not say why as it is just between me, her and my husband but that girl is amazing

8) Anything else you would like to mention?

Nothing at the moment

Thank you to

  1. Oh no, what an absolute shame about the hotel and your weekend away. It should have been such a joy!

    1. It was a shame and did spoil our time away, I have spoken to their management team who advised they were doing a full audit on the hotel. When I have checked availability rooms are available so not sure whether they are or not

    1. Thank you, it did ruin the weekend as we were both just shattered and miserable even putting a smile on our faces

  2. Happy anniversary! I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad time in Liverpool. Hopefully they will refund you and you will go celebrate another weekend somewhere else where you will get the proper service. Horrible that these days some hotels still doesn’t take care of their guests…. how will they survive?

    1. Thank you, and we have been refunded and I have spoken to the Regional Manager who was so apologetic and issuing a full audit of the hotel and deep clean. The staff were lovely but the Managers very much the opposite

  3. Sorry to hear you’re feeling worn out; treat yourself to a pampering session – I find a hot bubble bath and a face mask can work wonders for my mood.

    1. It has been a nightmare, sadly we no longer have a bath as easier for everyone to have a walk in shower and I do miss it, but plenty of other ways to pamper with special shower gels and of course face masks

  4. Have you heard anything back from the hotel? That room was disgusting at anytime but in the middle of a pandemic when there should be extra cleaning going on it was just well I don’t have the words.

    1. I spoke to a reginal manager today, he was so apologetic and is issuing a full audit on the hotel, and looking at all the issues raised. He said it will be closed and deep cleaning done. He also took on board my comments regarding the Managers and how they were, and I wanted praise to the three employees who were lovely. I also told him friends booked in for the Saturday night as we could not find any other accomodation and their room not as bad as the two we had was still disgusting.

  5. I am so sorry you are feeling shattered and that your anniversary trip didn’t go as planned. However I hope C’s interview goes well.

    1. Thank you, I did email the CEO and just had a conversation with a Manager and he was disgusted and is ordering a full audit of the hotel. Hopefully we will get a start date for her course today

  6. Oh no! I’m sorry that your anniversary trip wasn’t all you had hoped. Maybe someday you can have a laugh about it! I’m so sorry though, but congrats on 19!

    1. I am sure at some stage we will laugh about it, but at the moment I am very grumpy as still trying to catch up on lost sleep, thank you

  7. Happy 19th anniversary, but how terrible you had to put up with shocking service… and hotel… I am off to have a nosey… and to see if you name and shame them. Surprised for Liverpool, but then I’m a Manc, so not really! 😉
Hope C gets on well with her interview… she is rocking it chick, so you keep smiling!xx

    1. Thank you, and as you have now seen why we had such an awful stay, it was awful. Interview today so another step forward
