Get Out and Grow – Jack And The Giant Sunflower

You will have seen past posts where I have teamed up with Sudocrem to encourage our kids to get out in the garden and grow.

Well now they are back with another great competition that your little ones will love getting involved in.  The Get Out and Grow Jack and The Giant Sunflower

About the Competition

We all know the story of Jack and the beanstalk. Well Jack never learnt his lesson from growing the beanstalk and meeting the giant.  This summer he is now into massive plants, and he is calling on all Mums, Dads and Children all over the nation. He wants you to get involved as well and grow enormous sunflower for his collection.

Sunflowers are easy to grow and very impressive to look at.  We have always grown sunflowers and loved watching the seed start to sprout. And then watch the tiny little sprout grow and grow into an impressive tall stem. Then watch as the sunflower blooms proudly at the top.

Also growing sunflowers are a good way to lure insects and bees to your garden. And once the sunflowers have finished blooming you can dry them and eat the seeds.  Growing sunflowers is a great way to make gardening and the natural world fun and interesting to your children.

This summer holiday, we Get Out and Grow ambassadors would like to stir up some friendly sunflower-rivalry between mums and dads and kids ourselves and we’ve called the competition ‘Jack and the Giant Sunflower’ or #jackandthegiantsunflower to those of you on the ‘gram. Please, get involved and send us a picture of your prize sunflower next to your proud little (or big) gardener and tag me, @stressedmum1  #getoutandgrow, #sudocrem and anyone else you’d like to be involved for a chance to win a mural for your children’s school – chosen by Sudocrem, a bespoke sunflower t-shirt – chosen by me, as well as Jack’s giant seal of approval. The competition runs from 15th August 2019 – 15th September 2019.

Great initiative for kids to grow their green thumb at an early age. We might soon be growing our own crops in the future so a mighty fine skill to have.
