Hilton London Croydon New Wellness Room Review

I was recently offered a night away at Hilton Hotel London Croydon, to review their new Wellness Room, the first of its kind across the Hilton Chain.

The Wellness Room has been designed for guests to enjoy a more relaxed and mindful experience during their stay. One thing this past year has taught us is that we need to take time out to look after ourselves.

Donta Palev General Manager says

“Taking care of our wellbeing, both physically and mentally, allows us to thrive. Here at Hilton London Croydon we have created wellness bedrooms where guests can relax, recharge, get quality sleep, make time for themselves and increase energy levels, whether travelling for work or leisure. This is particularly important during these unprecedented times.”

About the Wellness Guest Room

The Wellness Guest Rooms feature eight elements of rejuvenation:

  • Air
  • Light
  • Scent
  • Taste
  • Hydration
  • Relaxation
  • Fitness
  • Sound

Air

The wellness room features an air purifying plant to help improve air quality, relaxation and sleep.

Light

salt lamp in room

The room features a Himalayan Salt Lamp, which helps to relieve anxiety, whilst improving air quality, mood and energy levels.  It is believed that this type of light causes a chemical change in the brain that lifts your mood and improves sleep.

Scent

Lavender is believed to relieve stress, improve the mood, promote restful sleep and lower kin irritation.  The rooms have a lavender pillow spray to help you get a restful nights sleep.

Taste

You can start your day with a fruit smoothie which is filled with vitamins and antioxidants, with the choice of options available from their breakfast menu.  By having a well balanced diet will provide you with the all the energy you need to keep active throughout the day. and the nutrients you need for growth and repair to help stay healthy and strong.

Hydration

smoothies and water

To help keep you refreshed and hydrated, you will find a lovely selection of Hope & Glory teas and fruit infused water.  By making sure you are hydrated, will improve sleep quality, cognition and mood.

Relaxation

bath

Pamper yourself in the bath, which has a tray of luxuries which includes

  • Facial Masks
  • Bath Salts
  • Bath Bombs
  • Bathing Flowers

Once you have pampered yourself, you can wrap yourself up in a plush bathrobe and try some deep breathing exercises. Relaxation slows our heart rate, reduces our blood pressure and relieves tension.

Fitness

The wellness room features

  • A Yoga Mat
  • Resistance Bands
  • Yoga Blocks
  • A Yoga Ball

All the tools you need for mind and body exercises.  If you are looking for something a little more intensive.  You can also visit Hiltons 24/7 gym.  By exercising regularly, you will feel more competent and confidence in your body, which in turn promotes mental wellbeing

Sound

Lie back on your Hilton Serenity bed and relax with either your favourite guided meditation app, or switch on the bedside radio to help de-stress from the day.  Slow paced instrumental music can induce the relaxation response by helping to lower blood pressure and heart rate, as well as stress hormones.

Our Stay

We visited Hilton London Croydon on a wet and miserable Thursday, we were both looking forward to a night away to relax and recharge our batteries.

We were met at reception and checked in for the night, before being shown to the Wellness Room, where all the features shown above were shown to us.

drinks at the bar

After unpacking we headed to the bar, to enjoy a bit of relaxation and a chat.  I did take my laptop down with me, but decided to enjoy my surroundings.  The bar and restaurant area are beautifully decorated and very relaxing to sit and catch up and watch the world around you.

We headed back to our room, where I gave my husband a good laugh, while I tried to do some yoga.  Before showering and getting ready for our evening meal.

Time For Dinner

We headed down to the restaurant, to be shown to our table, guests were sat at tables with plenty of space between.  Keeping to the social distancing rules

A just of fruit infused water was bought to our table, while we sat deciding what to have for our evening meal.

I really could not make my mind up with what I wanted, and as I was feeling hot (due to my age not the restaurant), I did not want a heavy meal.

The food was amazing, and came out hot without a long wait.  Although I wanted dessert I just needed to cool off.  We did plan on maybe having dessert in our room later.

We had another drink in the bar, before heading back to our room.  The room was spacious and comfortable and had everything you could wish for.

If you are wondering if all the extras of a Wellness Room are worth the price as opposed to a normal room.  It really does depend on what you are looking for in your stay.  For couples wanting a retreat away from daily life and family, I would definitely say go for it.  Who does not need somewhere calm, where you can relax and pamper yourself.
