Today is the first day of Blogtober 2024. The topic for today is favourite autumn traditions. I do not really have many traditions, or so I thought until I started thinking about this post. So see below my favourite Autumn traditions.

Nature Walks
I am cheating a bit here, as can not really call it a tradition as walk the dog every day. But do love when the leaves change and the colours are beautiful red, orangey colours. Plus jumping through leaves
Scented Candles
It is no surprise by now that I love my scented candles. I change between candles and wax melts and love to change my fragrances to match the seasons. I always look for new fragrances to try along with old favourites. I also have reed diffusers around the house, which also get changed.
Cosy Throws
Having pets and grandkids I always have throws on my furniture. I swap these for softer fleecy ones during Autumn and Winter. Plus have extra to snuggle under on those colder days. This is also a great way to change colours without having to decorate.
Warmer Clothing
This is when my jumpers and jumper dresses make their appearance again, my slippers are back to being used. Along with my warm fleecy dressing gown, My flip flops go away until next year and my beloved boots are back out.
Apples
We are lucky to have an apple tree in our garden, that always produces a ton of apples. Max used to love eating them if we did not get to the fallen ones before him. We give loads a way, but still have tons left. Which means there is a lot of baking going on such as apple pies, apple crumbles and apple cakes. We also freeze a lot down to use throughout the year.

I love walks with hot chocolate and visiting a pumpkin patch in October. it’s such a fun month.

Time to make apple crumble I say! I am sad summer is over but one thing i do look forward to are the leaves turning into slivers of gold and exploring the woods so we can admire the different shades of yellow. It is a beautiful season. My kids have lots of fun watching squirrels and we love going for a chestnut hunt so we can make a nice chestnut chicken stew. Yum.

I’m going to try and make more time to go on walks with my husband and children
It is lovely getting out, we are lucky to have loads of woods around us
October is probably my favourite month, I just love autumn. It’s still too hot for me though.
I am finding the weather warm at the moment
What great traditions. I didn’t think I had any until reading through this. I love scented candles, my favourite has to be gingerbread at this time of year and I love having my blanket over me just to feel cosy. I am doing a lot of baking this weekend as we have been given a box full of apples. x
