Meet The Blogger – Rhian

Today I am introducing Rhian from RhianWestbury

Rhian

Tell Us About Yourself?

My name is Rhian Westbury and I am a full-time content editor who blogs in her spare time.

How Or Why Did You Start Blogging?

I was doing some freelance copywriting and while I loved it I always wanted to write things for myself and have more creative control. I didn’t know much about the blogging world 4-5 years ago but I started up a blogger account and it grew from there.

Has Your Blog Changed Since You First Started It?

A lot. I started blogging on blogger as I wanted to see if I would stick to it before spending money on it, but now I am on WordPress self-hosted. When I first started I used to just post as and when I wanted to which was sometimes twice a week, sometimes once in two months, but now I have more of a schedule and while I don’t beat myself up if I miss one post I have more structure.

What Has Been Your Funniest Moment Since You Started Your Blog?

I don’t really have a lot of funny moments, but I always find it quite funny when I ask my boyfriend to take some images of me in a certain place and then I turn around and notice 4/5 other people doing the same thing. I was doing this at Covent Garden before Christmas and actually recognised at least two other bloggers at the spot.

What Has Been Your Worst Moment Since You Started Blogging?

When I was finally getting into my Instagram stride and my account got hacked, I spent hours trying to get back in as they’d changed my username, password, email address etc and I was heartbroken. I’d worked so hard and didn’t want it all to be gone. Thankfully I got it back in the end and I’m so careful to change my password often.

What Advice Would You Give To A New Blogger Starting Out?

Don’t compare yourselves to others because they might be chapters ahead of you on their journey and everyone is different.

What Surprised You About Blogging That You Did Not Realise When You First Started Blogging?

That you could actually make money from it. I thought it was all about advertising and I don’t like the look of adverts on my blog so I never thought I’d be able to make anything from my blog.

What Do You Like To Do In Your Spare Time?

I love watching movies and going to the cinema, I am also a huge music lover so spend time listening to music and going to live shows, and I’m also a huge bookworm even if I don’t get as much time to read as I’d like.

If You Won The Lottery What Would You Do First?

I would pay off mine and Luke’s parents mortgages and then buy us our dream forever home so we could have a foundation underneath us.

Who Is Your Blogging Hero And Why?

I love Zoe London and Helen Anderson because both of them don’t really fit the ‘traditional’ blogging mould. In that they are alternative in both their style and music tastes and I love that. They both seem hugely genuine people and it’s nice to read/ see things from people who are for the most part normal.
