Classic Patios and Decking
Even though it’s simple, a patio can add a lot of value to your home and give you and your family a lot of fun. Most patios are made of concrete or flat stones. Still, patios can also be made of hardwood, composite decking, and tiles, among other things. Putting in a patio is a simple but effective way to make your home more useful. And adds resale value as well. They are simple to set up. They don’t cost as much as some other upgrades. Patios add a lot of value to your home for the price you pay for them. They last a long time and don’t need much maintenance.
Perky Pergolas
A pergola is like a small patio that you can close off, so it gives you some protection from the sun and rain. Because they have more materials, they cost a little more than patios. Still, they are easy to build and add a little style. Most of the time, these shelters are made of natural materials and work well on porches. Since they’re not as big as other coverings, you can use them if you don’t have much room. Plus, they can add a lot of value. Not just from a financial point of view, but also, so you get to spend more time with your family in your garden.
Trendy Home Extensions Include Lofty Verandahs
If you have the room, you’ll love having a verandah. Having a verandah is nice because it lets you be outside while still being safe. Verandahs are light and airy because their ends are open. So you can enjoy the warm sun and a nice breeze at the same time. Also, when it rains, which usually happens when you don’t want it to, you are fully protected. Most verandahs are bigger than most other outdoor living spaces. But they scream elegance and class. And they are big enough to fit some comfortable, stylish rattan furniture, which you will get on sale in winter.
Protection for Vehicles
Carports are a great way to keep your car safe. The sun’s UV rays, the weather, and other things that can damage the paint on your cars, so they need to be kept in the shade. And trees don’t offer much when you consider falling debris and bird poop! Even though a carport doesn’t add usable space for your family, it will make other parts of your home more accessible. For example, your driveway will have more room that you can use as a play area. Or, you can convert your garage into an extension such as a bedroom or a self-contained flat for renting.
Light and Airy Conservatories
They have been around for a long time. But in the last few years, conservatories have become more popular as part of the sustainability conversation. However, they also add value to your home and are a cheaper alternative to an expensive extension. With modern construction methods, warm roofs for conservatories offer the same protection and energy efficiency as a fully walled extension. For instance, uPVC framing and double-glazed glass help keep warm air inside and cold air outside. Increased heat also makes them a great and warm family room.
Summary
Trendy home extensions don’t just include a new en-suite bedroom. Some of the most valuable to you or a buyer include patios and decking, verandahs and pergolas and vehicle protection.

My in laws went all out with their extension. They found their dream retirement home in the middle of nowhere, haha, but it was a school house and was very small so they did a massive extension at the front to install a new kitchen and living area. Made the old kitchen into a hallway and the old living room into another bedroom. They recently built a patio and decking and a verandah so they can still outside when it’s raining. It is amazing what an extension can do.
It is, we had a new conservatory built and it is great I dry my washing in there now as it gets the light and is surpringly warm in there
