What To See In Liverpool On A Family Trip

Now that Spring is here, I am starting to look at getting out and exploring this year.  As C is still very ill we know we will not be able to book a holiday abroad as it will be too much for her.  So exploring England is what we are thinking of. First of is What To See In Liverpool On A Family Trip.

We have a few places on our list I would love to take my family to Nottingham and visit places around there, as I was born not far from there.  I would love to re-visit Sherwood Forest and the little village where my Grandparents lived and show them the house my Grandad built and I have many happy memories of.  But I want to do this when C is having better days.

Where to visit first

We have often spoken about visiting Liverpool.  I went for a day many years ago and would love to go back and explore the city further. There is so much history as well as fun things to do.

Ferry across the Mersey

We all know the song, and I have done the ferry trip across the Mersey.  They did play the song and much to the embarrassment of who I was with I had to sing along.  I can not wait to embarrass my husband and daughter doing the same thing.

Beatles Tour

Beetles tour

How about a private Beatles Tour by taxi. Liverpool has so much history, but one of the reasons people visit Liverpool is because of the Beatles. The tour includes –

  • John Lennon’s Birthplace
  • LIPA & Georgian Quarter
  • A Case History sculpture
  • Brian Epstein’s story
  • Beatles Statues, Historic Waterfront

Museums

These are always somewhere interesting to visit (especially if it is a miserable day).  They have a variety of museums on offer

  • British Music Museum Here you can discover the history of  music.  With costumes, instruments, performance and memorabilia.
  • Tate Liverpool – We have visited the Tate London and all loved it.  C loves art so will love visiting here.  Plus it will be quiet place for her to visit.

There are more museums but these are the two we would love to visit while there.

Dinosaurs Unleashed

The Most Iconic Dinosaur Species You Should Know

Now Spring is here Liverpool ONE have a series of Free events the whole family can enjoy. Dinosaurs Unleashed is a great free activity the whole family will love.  They have teamed up with dinosaur educationists to provide all the  prehistoric know how any would be palaeontologist needs.

You need to download the app and follow the trail to chase Raptors, Triceratops and look overhead for Pteranodon, and not forgetting the mighty T-Rex. As you collect information and eggs you can hatch and grow your very own dinosaurs.  Plus if that is not enough you can visit the World Museum as they have a dinosaur gallery on the 4th floor.

This sounds like a great adventure for the kids and adults and it is totally free as well.

Shopping

I can not visit a new area without checking out the shopping centre.  I know this is not free but we all deserve a treat

Food and Drink

Liverpool offers a wide range of places where you can relax and enjoy a drink, snack or main meal.

Have you visited Liverpool and have some ideas of things to see or do? If so please let me know.
