What To Do As A Family In London On A Bank Holiday Weekend

As the kids break up for half term today, so far the sun is shiningl I am sharing some family friendly ideas on What To Do As A Family In London On A Bank Holiday Weekend.

Lets look at outdoor activities as we hope for warm sunny days

Picnic in a Royal Park

Everyone loves a picnic, so why not grab a picnic blanket and make up a picnic and head to one of Londons Royal Parks including –

• Hyde Park
• Regent’s Park – there is a lovely playground and boating lake you can also enjoy
• St James’s Parl

Thames River Cruise

There is something so relaxing about water. So why not hop on a River Cruise along the River Thames. This is fun for all ages and with so many historic landmarks and history to learn along the way. There are so many boat stops along the way that you can hop on and off in key locatons such as

• Greenwich
• Tower Bridge
• Westminster

Kew Gardens

If you love nature and are looking for a more relaxed day out. Kew Gardens is a perfect place to visit. From giant greenhouse, treetop walkways and a childrens garden.

This is a perfect relaxed family day out

London Zoo (Regent’s Park)

Somewhere that needs no introduction is London Zoo. A great family day out that can also be made cheaper by packing a picnic to take with you

The London Eye & South Bank Walk

One of my favourite areas to visit is The South Bank. A lovely walk along the River Thames with so much to do and see including street perfomers, food stalls the Southbank Centre and so much more.

You can also book a ride on the London Eye to see London from high up

Tower of London

One iconic place to visit in London is The Tower Of London. If you have never been you really must visit. Along with the Beefeaters you will also get to view the Crown Jewels

Natural History Museum

You can a really cheap day out by visiting The Natural History museum. Where you will see dinosaurs and just how big a blue whale is. Along with loads of other exhibits. Plus it is totally free.

Or visit one of the other museums including Science Museum and Museum of London Docklands

West End Family Shows

If you are looking for something relaxing and fun. How about seeing a family theatre show such as

• The Lion King
• Matilda
• Frozen
• Or one of the many other shows

Rainy Day Backup

We all know Bank Holiday weather usually means it is going to rain. So it is always a good idea to have a back up plan just in case, such as

• KidZania London (Westfield) – A mini city where kids try out real-life jobs.
• Shard View or Sky Garden – High views in case of rain, and Sky Garden which is free with booking.

Of course there is always splashing in the puddles if it rains.
