Following on in my Meet The Blogger series, today I am introducing you to Carly who blogs over at Carly Bloggs.
Meet The Blogger – Carly
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
Hi! I’m Carly from Carlybloggs.co.uk I blog about a little bit of everything from parenting to blogging tips and recipes. I started out as a foodie, dieting instagrammer but it’s so much more than that now.
WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I started as I needed somewhere I could direct people to when they wanted my healthy recipes from Instagram. It developed into more from there and gave me the opportunity to write about more than just food like I was on Instagram.
HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?
In some aspects yes. To begin with I didn’t take any notice of SEO and my photography was not even close to the standard it is now. I also rebranded a year ago so the look of it changed completely.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?
Taking my mum to a new dessert shop that opened up locally. She was a little bit shocked with how we were treated and the freebies we walked away with. I think it was the first realisation for her that my blog is actually not just a hobby. I just found her reaction quite entertaining myself.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?
Crying because I felt like I wasn’t capable of keeping up with everything. I felt like a failure. But I work part time, have 2 children and finding time to plan, write, post and keep up with social media did get on top of me. I decided to post less this year and it’s working out much better.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?
Be prepared for how much work it is. There is more to blogging than just writing and posting! I have 2 posts on my blog about the things I wish I’d known when I started.
WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE BEFORE YOU STARTED?
How lovely other bloggers are. In the 2 years I’ve been doing it I’ve only seen one vile blogger that took it upon themselves to tear down others. The community is genuinely so supportive and it’s amazing!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
Spare time? What’s that?
IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?
Head to the Lamborghini garage! I’ll worry about where I’d move to after that.
WHO IS YOUR BLOGGING HERO AND WHY?
Ruth in Revolt. I never really took much notice of bloggers before I started myself so I didn’t particularly look up to anyone. Ruth though, she is amazing! From the moment I started talking to her on Twitter she inspired me. She’s been blogging for a year but has absolutely smashed it and she is my hero.
