This year has certainly been a different year. At the start of 2020 none of us had any idea of what the world would hold for us in a couple of months. We had no idea of the lockdown we would face, working from home and staying home.
One thing that I have been thinking about is improving my fitness. I walk my dogs miles everyday and and forever running up and down the stairs. But I have been thinking and looking online at starting yoga. Here is what I have found out and may be interesting to anyone looking at starting yoga
What is yoga?
Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing. To boost both physical and mental wellbeing.
Are there any health benefits to yoga?
There is some evidence that regular yoga is beneficial to those with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains and depression or stress.
Does yoga help your balance?
Yoga does improve the balance by stengthening your lower body, especially your knees and ankles.
Am I too old for yoga?
No you are never too old to start yoga, some people start in their 70’s.
Do I have to be fit to do yoga?
No, you just need to find the right class for you so do some research before going to a class
Can I injure myself by doing yoga?
They are uncommon but you can cause an injury by repetitive strain or overstretching. If starting yoga you will find that the class teacher will be aware of this and teach you how to do it properly to avoid injuries

I did try getting into yoga last year but couldn’t get my schedule sorted to keep going – with all the online classes now I don’t really have a good excuse!
I know what you mean I am getting my exercise decluttering at the moment but will be looking at it in the New Year
These sound like some great ideas for starting yoga, I did yoga when I was younger and found it really relaxing.
I did try it years ago and gave up but have been thinking of trying it again
My mummy is definitely in need of a lifestyle change after lockdown and getting out more and walking is one thing she wants to do, however yoga sounds intriguing too!
I think many people feel the same as yur mummy, yoga is less impact so hoping I can stick to it
It has been ages since I have done any yoga but I recently bought a yoga matt so need to start again as it has so many benefits
I hope you get to enjoy your new yoga mat soon x
Yoga is definitely something I’d be interested in starting too! It seems like a great way to make some changes in your life and fitness.
I really am wanting to start yoga and it seems a great way to increase fitness
Yoga is something I’ve been meaning to take up. It would really do me some good and help strengthen my core.
This is why I have been looking at yoga as well x
During lockdown to stay calm I have been doing some yoga to help me be mentally and emotionally stable and I found it did make a difference
I have heard a few other people say the same thing x
I want to start trying to do some yoga more for my flexibility, but I think I need to lose a little bit of weight first as I struggled when I tried it a while back x
I want to do it for my flexibility as well
I have never tried Yoga before, but it has been recommended to me to try and keep my joints supple as I suffer with arthritis
It is meant to be good with those who suffer arthritis as it s not a hard impact
