I remember when my boys where younger, learning about the latest craze of Pokemon. With each year it is just as popular with the younger generation, with the toys, trading cards, tv series and films. It was not long before my daughter. joined in. Now she is forever trying to teach me the various names and how they evolve. Which has sent me into somehow living in the world of Pokemon and beyond.
Don’t tell her this, but I do actually find it quite interesting. Although I do prefer the initial one to what they evolve into. I know three of her favourite characters are Evee, Snorlax and Scorbunny. She is desperate for Scorbunny who is currently out of stock everywhere. I search daily as would love to get it as a surprise for one of her Christmas presents.
For years Pokemon has been a part of our lives, and through this my daughter got into the world of Anime. At one stage begging us to take her to Japan on holiday.

So Much More To Learn
Since my boys were younger, and first found the love of Pokemon. Things have changed so much, with new characters being introduced. Plus it is not just Pokemon anymore, as my daughter taught me recently.

There are so many options of how to play and collect your favourites. Such as commanders magic the gathering. which is a series of supplemental magic. The official Commander format is the only sanctioned format maintained by an outside entity. This year a total of 24 Commander decks have been released. With a variety of themes and colours.
You can also get trading cards for
- Pokemon
- Yu-Gi_Oh
- And More
Funko

over the years Funko figures have become very popular, and many have collections around various likes. We have some of the Marvel figures.
Plush Toys

Plush toys are something myself and my daughter daughter love and Pokemon do not let the side down. They are so cute how can you resist. Although, for this reason I now have a long list of plushes my daughter wants.
Along with the plush toys, there is also a whole range of other items, including backpacks, clothing, wallets and much more.
Whether you love them or loathe them, or just refuse to understand them. Most likely, if you have kids, you will have lessons in who they are and what each character does. These toys and trading cards are here to stay. Even my grandchildren are starting to love them, so they are already moving onto the next generation. I do love this fact, as it is something each generation can relate to. Talk about and share memories of when they first found the world of Pokemon and beyond. Were you a first generation Pokemon fan and been able to share your stories and memories with your children?
Who is your favourite character or trading card? I do love Pikachu and have always thought he was sweet. Although now I am warming to some of the others.

my nephews are massive Pokemon fans – always asking for something new – not Keen myself
I do not get Pokemon either. C’s first budgie Pippy is actual called Piplup which is a Pokemon character. She even managed to persuade me to get the Piplup plush toy when it came out.
I’m still a massive Pokemon fan and I have been since I was in Primary School. We have Pokemon Go on our phones and my husband plays Pokemon Violet every lunchtime. I really hope my kids can adapt this love for Pokemon in the future
My daughter loves it and so surprised on Christmas morning when she opened one of her favourite characters that she had been wanting for ages
It is crazy how Pokemon is still around. My brother used to love it when he was at school and he’s 40 now. x
I know but it is lovely that parents can talk to their kids about Pokemon and know what it is all about
