Box rooms can be a little annoying. Any extra space in your home is great, but box rooms are so small that you can be unsure about what to do with them. They often become a dumping ground for anything you can’t store elsewhere, or they might serve as a baby or toddler’s room for a little while. If you feel like your box room is under-utilised, you can probably do more with it. You don’t have to let it go to waste when there are plenty of things you can do with even the smallest of things. Consider the following ideas to make more of your box room.

Design a Dressing Room
A dressing room or walk-in wardrobe is a great use of a box room, especially if it’s right next to the master bedroom. You could even consider adding a door or doorway from your bedroom into the box room if there’s a connecting wall. It can allow you more space to store your clothes, shoes, and accessories, while also giving you somewhere to get dressed. It could also have a vanity table with space to do your hair or makeup. Plus, you can include a full-length mirror and plenty of lighting.

Turn It Into an Office
Box rooms can make perfect home offices, allowing you to work at home away from the rest of the house. More people are working from home now, and it’s beneficial to have a separate workspace. You don’t need a huge amount of space to set up a desk and chair, and it can give you the privacy that you need to work in peace. Decorate the room using light colours to maximise the space and make it conducive to being productive. You can make the space your own so that you feel happy and comfortable working in it.
Make It More Useful Storage
People often use their box rooms as storage, but it’s often not in a very organised way. You might just throw something in there when you don’t have space for it anywhere else. Then you end up with piles of stuff that you need to sort through if you need something. This kind of overflow becomes even more stressful if you’re renovating and trying to maintain normal routines at the same time, which is why using your box room as storage with intention will save you the headache down the line.
You can continue to use it as storage but make it more organised. Start by getting a proper storage space from https://www.storagearea.com to get rid of any larger bits of clutter. The next step should be installing storage units, shelves, or anything that will turn chaos into more organised storage.

Set Up a Snug or Den
The cosy space of a box room is ideal for creating a snug or den, where you can hide away from it all. It’s just the right size for one or two people to snuggle up on a small sofa, or maybe somewhere to send the kids when you need some peace and quiet. You could send it up as a miniature home cinema or just a room with plenty of comfortable seating.
Your box room doesn’t have to go to waste. There are plenty of ways to use it that ensure it has a purpose.

Our box room in Hertford was like a messy storage room. I wish back then I converted it into a walk in wardrobe because that would have made room for my husband’s clothes, haha
Our box room is our junk room which we are sorting in the new year
I love the idea of turning a box room into an office, that way it can be readily converted back to a bedroom should the need arise x
I think it is a great idea, ours is the junk room at the moment and does need sorting
