Lego Sets for Children Ages 1-3

You might be wondering if there is even a Lego option for kids this young. After all, small toys and kids don’t really mix too well.
Well, luckily Lego has taken this into consideration and created a Lego theme just for the really little ones. It’s called Lego Duplo and the blocks included in these sets are larger. Making them easier to handle and put together for little hands.
While they are bigger than standard Lego blocks, they aren’t so large that little kids find them hard to hold.
There are lots of Lego Duplo sets available, with options such as classic buckets that include a variety of blocks and bricks for them to experiment with. The beauty of Duplo is that your child can play with it as they wish, building whatever they like, so it stimulates their imagination.
One of our favourite Duplo sets is the My First Number Train kit, which includes the simple to build blocks, which are also numbered, so while they are honing their fine motor skills, they also start to become familiar with numbers.
Lego Sets for Kids Aged 4 and 5

Once your child has gotten the hang of snapping the Duplo blocks together and building their creations, it might be time for them to graduate to a new set.
As kids are still pretty prone to putting things in their mouths at this age, we still recommend sticking with the Lego Duplo sets, however, you can certainly level up.
A great option is the Lego Duplo Number Town Steam Train. Similar to the set above, this one is a larger set, with 59 pieces, so your child can create a whole lot out of this set.
As your kid is more likely to be familiar with numbers at this age, the set is especially educational. And just to make it that little bit cooler, the train has a small motor which is switch operated. So you’re kid can have so much amazing fun with this set.
Lego Sets for Children Ages 5-7

Alright, this is where the Lego building turns serious. You need a Lego set that is not only fun and fabulous, but also involves learning and stimulates their brain.
So, around this age kids tend to move on from Duplo sets to the next level up with the Lego City theme.
Like Duplo, the City set blocks are larger than standard Lego blocks, however, they are smaller than Duplo. This is to help fine tune the fine motor skills they have been working hard at developing with Duplo.
The sets are also designed to reflect the world around your child. So, they can replicate real world scenarios into their playtime, and learn more about the world in the process.
The great news is that even though they may have graduated from Duplo, they don’t need to leave those sets behind, as all Lego sets can play together!
There are lots of Lego City sets to choose from, but we really can’t go past the space themed sets, which include the Lego City Lunar Space Station Set, the Lego City Lunar Research Base, and the Lego City Lunar Roving Vehicle.
