Share A Photo And Tell The Story Behind It

Today is day 19 of Blogtober 2026 and today the topic is Share A Photo And Tell The Story Behind It.

Having a husband who was a photographer, we literally have thousands of photos. While I was thinking about this one came to my mind and I remember vividly the story behind it.

C Windswept

Being married to a photographer, it was never a surprise if he had an idea or he wanted a certain look. Sometimes he would have an idea in his head but with the lighting or whatever it would never be what he wanted.

Obviously, these are pictures of C from years ago. My husband had another idea and wanted to give it a try. He had seen the les miserable poster and wanted to do his interpretation of it.

This meant involving C, who at the time would very happily (more than me) be willing to sit for 300 hours while he messed with lights, reflectors and all sorts of settings.

Picture The Scene

C was sitting in place on a stool chair we had for the breakfast bar.

I was standing next to her flapping something to get her hair moving and sweeping across her face

We were in hysterics, we al thought this is not going to work. But somehow it did, remember we were all crying with laughter at this point.

How he got the picture

  • I had to start making the breeze for C’s hair to be windswept
  • Hubby counted 1,2,3 then C had to stop laughing and look straight at him
  • We did this a couple of times

No one would be able to tell the laughter from us all, the huffing and puffing from me as I made the breeze or my husband trying not to laugh as he counted down for straight faces,

These come up on my Facebook memories each year and always have been and always will be some of my favourites. Not just because I love the photo but the story behind it and how C just went to a straight face.

  1. I love how it turned out and what a great story. My brother is a photographer, I have many pictures from when my children were young and he would have fun ideas for pictures.

  2. I love this idea so much! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but combining that picture WITH the words is a wonderful idea.
