Recently, we have been doing a lot of work at home. Not only have we totally gutted our bathroom and re-installing everything from new. We have also done the same to our bedroom.
With being in lockdown, and having no plans to go away. We decided to do the things around the house such as upgrading our bedroom. This is something we have wanted to do for years.

How We Have Transformed Our Bedroom
We started by ripping everything out, meaning all our clothes and other items have been in bags and boxes. A complete nightmare when trying to find simple things like deodorant, which my husband moved, or socks. He was able to find all his items though strangely enough.
Flooring
Our carpet needed replacing, and after a lot of discussion we decided to go for floor boards. My husband painted the outside edges and we have a huge plush shaggy rug with sparkly shimmers going through it.
Bed
We decided to change our bed as our old bed was a lift up one with storage underneath. Which is great but with being lifted over the years it had warped. I have a thing at the moment for silver crushed velvet, and we chose the bed shown above, which I am totally in love with.
Storage
I have never had fitted wardrobes, and we never thought we could make them work in our bedroom. This has meant storage has always been an issue for us. My husband managed to work the room and how we could incorporate fitted wardrobes, this is resulting in a ton of storage as well. The doors arrived yesterday, so hopefully I will have fitted wardrobes soon and everything in its place.
The Extra Bits
With moving our room around, we were stuck with what to do with our TV. One option was to get a TV Bed, instead my very clever husband has made a cabinet that sits at the end of our bed where the TV can go up or down. This will be covered in silver crushed velvet to match the bed.
Bedding
Obviously, with getting a new bed it also means new bedding we have new pillows, sheets, duvets sets and this great new Night Owl Duvet, from The Fine Bedding Company, which I was offered to review and could not have come at a better time. A lightweight fibre filled duvet with its own soft cover, which means that you do not need a duvet cover.
You just through the duvet in the washing machine. It makes changing the bed so much quicker and easier, I love it. I currently have the 10.5 tog which I am finding comfortable at night, and am looking to get a 4.5 tog for the summer nights. I am also loving the colours that the duvet comes in –
- Dusk Pink
- White Seersucker
- Aurorer Green
- Twilight Blue
- Cloud Grey
- Grey Marl with Yellow Trim
I would definitely recommend trying the Night Owl Duvet especially if you struggle with changing the duvet or have a busy household.

I’m loving your bedroom palette – and so jealous of your custom TV nook! I’m loving on crushed velvet too recently…
Thank you, I am into crushed velvet and so lucky to have a husband who can make things. Next will be our lounge and I am trying to get a new crushed velvet sofa
We’ve been redecorating and I’d love the wooden floor panels in the home , I think they look so gorgeous
I love wood and loving the floor boards
That’s so good that you now have fitted wardrobes, it makes such a difference when you can add in extra storage to a room x
We have needed them for a long time now and the extra storage makes so much difference
It is always nice to have some lovely new bedding. Feels so fresh, lovely and makes you feel good x
I love new bedding and am always eager to try to be the first into bed when I put new bedding on
That sounds like an awesome duvet! I will have to check them out. It sounds like your bedroom is going to look incredible once finished.
It is a great duvet and no struggling with changing covers you just take it off and chuck it in the machine. Our bedroom will look great the wardrobe doors are now up and it looks so different
I love it when we give a room a complete makeover. It always feels so fresh, clean and like new again.
I can not wait for it tbe be finished
I love that duvet! no struggling and no frustration! Nothing nicer than fresh bedsheets.
It really is a game changer everyone needs one (well two for when you change the bed)
Great blog, that sounds pretty impressive that your husband made a cabinet that sits at the end of your bed where the TV can go up or down! Really good idea 🙂
It is great and hides the tv away when not in use, plus the unit is now covered in silver crushed velvet so looks like it is part of the bed
