When I was growing up, I loved horses, it every girls dream their own horse. I would forever ask my parents if I could have a horse, the nearest I got was having riding lessons where I learnt how to look after a horse, including the horrible jobs of cleaning the stables.
This did not deter me at all, in fact it just made me want my own horse even more. I would draw horses and write stories around my adventures with my horse.

The Horse Next Door

When we moved to where we now live, our neighbour had a horse in her garden (yes we have a big back garden). I loved when he would nose over the fence and we would have a chat. Thankfully, our neighbours moved before my Daughter came along.
She followed in my love of horses, and would ask daily if she could have a horse. As much as I loved them, I knew my husband would say no.

Conclusion
It is every girls dream to own their own horse, but the reality to the dream is very different. What can start as a dream come true, can turn into a chore or resentment. I am glad my parents kept saying no to me, as I know it would have become a chore. I would have still loved it and looked after it, but on those cold winter mornings or evenings I would have resented having to do it.
Have you ever wanted to own a horse? or even owned one?

I wanted to when I was little!
So did I and so did my daughter
I used to ride alot, but after a horse threw me off,i’m alittle scared of them now x
I do love horses, I can see why you are a little scared now though
I am scared of horses ever since I was about 6. I went on a horse ride at a festival and it ran away with me on it and the lady running after us. My daughter used to want a horse when she was little.
I remember when I had lessons, my instructor thought I had been riding longer than I had and went galloping which my horse followed I clung on until she realised
One of my old colleagues she was a few years younger than me but she had a horse and every day she would get up so early to go and muck it out and every day after work she would go and do the same and whatever else needed to be done at the stables. She didn’t care, she absolutely loved it and wanted another horse. We haven’t grown up with horses or with anyone riding horses but I can see the attraction.
If you own a horse you have to be dedicated as they do take a lot of care
Ahhh this made me smile. I love horses too! I think owning a horse if it’s your passion it worth everything … but I can see without the passion it could start to feel like hard work.
Having a horse is certainly a lot of work and that’s definitely an important thing to consider along with the fact that horses are expensive to own and look after. I like horses but I’ve never really wanted to own one!
They are a lot of work and very expensive to own, I always wanted one and when my daughter started asking for one, could see why my parents kept saying no
I really do wish I had the space and time for a horse. They are such lovely animals. I went riding years back a few times and it was great to do. It is definitely a dream pet x
I used to have riding lessons and loved it, when our neighbour had her horse in the garden I would always be out there talking to him
I was so lucky when I was a child. I lived on a farm and have quite a few horses and ponies over the years. They are expensive but I would say worth every penny x
