You may have noticed that I did not write a post last week, I had a very busy week and was playing catch up. I had a couple of nights away, plus a day out with my husband mid week. Then last Friday a busy day where I hardly touched my laptop. Time for my weekly Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 28/05/20.
I am also trying my first linky, I have never done one before so excited to give it a go.
So lets have my catch up
Table of Contents
Dentist

I had another trip to the dentist last Friday, also C had her first one since Covid. Bless her she did well and now on a special toothpaste as her medication has messed with the enamel. I had an impression taken for dentures omg I am not impressed, but I am able to keep my half front tooth until the last minute.
I was meant to be back there today for a second impression, but now booked for next Friday. This is a long process but still a step forward to being able to smile again
Vaccine

Last Monday I had a call from my GP surgery to arrange my second vaccination, unfortunately I already had our dentist appointment at the same time so had to say I could not make it. They had no other dates or times and was really rude. I went on the NHS website over the weekend and booked my vaccine for Tuesday.
With the first vaccine I was fine, thought I would be fine with the second, wrong. Driving home I could feel my back, hips and legs start to hurt, everyday I have ached and been so tired. Today I am a lot less achy but still feel worn out. But I am fully vaccinated now so all worth it.
Hot Flushes

Honestly, I have suffered enough with these hot flushes, especially at night. I go from being ok to hot and sweaty in seconds. Anyone who suffers from them knows how uncomfortable they are and I am done with them. My poor husband gets the same questions everyday and night. Are you hot? Is it hot in here? Is the heating on?
General Day to Day
I think this sums me up me pretty well, I have no idea what I am doing half the time at the moment. Cooking dinner last night I was making my chicken risotto, something I make a lot as it is a quick and easy dinner. I messed it up totally, luckily had only got to the rice cooking stage. As I did not have enough rice in I had to resort to giving in and ordering a pizza.
I have lost count on the number of times I walk into a room, or go to say something and have to stop and think what I was going to do or say. I am putting it down to the after effects of the vaccine.
A Beautiful Locket

In case you have not seen it yet, I have a lovely giveaway where you can win this beautiful Sterling Silver Locket. It is gorgeous and you can choose an engraving and two pictures to go inside. Head over to the post to find out more.
How has your week been? Do you have any funny stories to share with us

I’m perimenopause at 43,thanks for sharing x
I’m glad it’s not only me who doesn’t know what I’m doing half the time at the mo! LOL. I think it’s a Covid thing. Our lives have been turned upside down and round and round so much that we’re still trying to catch up 😀 I’ll be glad when we can get some sort of normality back.
Louise x
It does seem to be a common thing, covid has certainly turned all our lives around, starting to get back to some form of normality which is lovely x
I hate hot flushes, they make you feel like everyone is looking at you!!
I know and they just spring up on you with no warning
The menopause is one of the times I have particularly valued being married to a midwife but even so understanding the biology doesn’t diminish the symptoms. A sense of humour can help at times, but sympathy can also be needed. The trouble is I’m always getting amused when sympathy is needed or sympathising when a sense of humour would be better.
My husbandis the same with me and gets amused
I’m due my 2nd jab in a couple weeks, I had it pretty rough from the 1st one so I’m not looking forward to the 2nd one but I’m glad you’re recovering and full vaccinated. I really need to make a dentist appointment ugh
I feel fine now and I think it is worth the few days of feeling rough to get the protection x
Wow, it sucks that they were rude about your second jab and that you had so many bad side effects. Glad it’s over though and you are safe now.
At least I got it done eventually and am now over the side effects
My weeks been alright thanks, I am so happy the sun is out as we’ve been able to have our first bbq in our garden. I hope you feel better after the vaccine now x
Glad you have had a good week and managed a bbq, I am now over the side effects and feel much better
Oh god what side effects! . I’ve got my first jab next week and although I’m glad it’s coming , I’m worried about any side effects.
My daughter had her first one yesterday, I was worried due to her illness but apart from extra tiredness and a sore arm she is fine
Gosh, the effects from the 2nd jab don’t sound great. Hope you are feeling much better now! Great to hear you have been out and about!
It wasnt fun but better now. C has her first one today eeek
