They can not explain why they feel so down, nothing major has changed Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD for short is more common than we think. There are many ways to combat this – maybe look at purchasing a lamp that replicates natural sunlight.

As the days get colder and the nights draw in, gone our the days of getting out and meeting friends. We tend to stay in rather than heading out on a cold wet and windy night. Those with partners and family, this is just a way of live. Those who live alone, suddenly feel the loneliness as they sit in on those long cold nights.

If you do struggle once Autumn is here, talk to those close to you. Let them know you are struggling. Never feel you are a burden as family and friends are there for you.

Do struggle when the seasons change? How do you cope?

  1. I tell everyone that I hate the cold weather and I’m moving to Spain – like a broken record every single year LOL! Seriously, it’s too easy to stay tucked up in bed or on the sofa under a rug so making the effort to keep in touch with friends and family, even if it’s just a WhatsApp message, is important.

  2. I do miss the daylight in winter as I seem to travel to and from work in the dark. I do enjoy shutting the curtains as soon as I get in, popping on the heating and lighting fragrant candles!
