Beating The January Blues

January is always the month when most of us feel down. We have just had Christmas and New Year, with lots of fun activities and meeting up with family and friends. Then it is grey and miserable, as the Christmas decorations come down, we are back to work and normality. We find that we lack motivation and feel tired and have low energy. Which is why I am sharing some tips for beating the January Blues.

Routine

daily routine

Getting back into a routine really does help. Over the past few weeks, we have enjoyed later nights, no alarm wake ups. Then it is back to setting the alarm and those dark mornings. Make sure you get a good nights sleep by going to bed at a reasonable time, and not staying up continue to watch the next episode of a series. Which I did last night.

Be Comfortable

Be comfortable in warm clothing

As you will know by now I do love my comfort. January is always a time I go for comfort over anything else. Saying that I have found a way of having both style and comfort with YOURS Clothing. As you will know from previous posts, I find their range of clothes comfortable, stylish and a great fit. I have teamed up with them again, to bring you both comfort and style, when keeping warm this January.

  • Grey Plush Fur Trim Parka Coat – Everyone needs a warm and practical winter coat. That provides you with warm and protects you from the wind and rain. I chose this coat, as I have had a similar one for years and it is looking a bit old now. I love this coat and how warm it is.
  • Light Blue Soft Touch Midi Dress – I love my warm jumper dresses at this time of year. They are just so easy to wear. Whether at home, but also great for going out. This dress is so soft and warm. I am going to buy the grey one as well.
  • Pink Heart Faux Fur Jacket – I chose this as got C something similar last year. I love it when she wears it either as a jacket on warmer days, or to keep her warmer on colder days. I even got her another one for Christmas. This jacket has not let me down, it is so soft and warm and just right for keeping me warm when I get a bit chilly.

Eat Healthy

start eating healthily

After all the party food and all the treats over the past few weeks. You can start to look at eating a little more healthy than you have been. You do not need to go mad on a diet, just by changing a few meals or how you cook them can make a huge difference. I find the keto diet works for me and it does not feel like a diet. C loves the Mediterranean diet, and it has helped her Chronic illness. Also, by drinking more water it is good for your skin as well.

Exercising

go for a walk in the woods

I am not going to tell you to join a gym or exercise classes, unless that is your goal. But if you are like me and they fill you with dread, look at other ideas. Why not wrap up warm and go for a nice long walk. Getting out in the fresh air really does help your mood. I walk my dogs daily, and it also gives me a time to either switch off, or think over things that are worrying me, and clears my head.

Stop Stressing

stress

A common thing in January, is to stress over money. You get paid early in December, which is great as you can finish your Christmas shopping. Then January’s pay day seems such a long wait. Whether, you spent a little too much or dreading the credit card statement coming in. you can not change what has happened, as my husband would say. You can’t change it so stop worrying. It is true, and it does help.

If you have to, just pay some of your credit card card off each month. Be creative for meals with what you have in already. I find January a great way to clear my freezer. Take a packed lunch to work, instead of buying lunch. You will be able to get through, until payday.
