Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 08/04/2026

I am sure I am not the only one having to keep checking today is Wednesday. Especially after the long Easter Weekend. This means that it is time for my Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 08/04/2026 on what is the hottest day of 2026 so far.

My Week

This Week

Health

My Dad is recovering slowly, he had his dressing checked yesterday for where the skin graft was taken and it has healed lovely. His mouth is going to take months to heal.

I am having a constant battle with my Mum and Dad over what his intake of calories and nutrients are. What we are being advised by the hospital and my Mum saying Dad does not need that. As you can imagine it is like dealing with toddlers. I am winning though.

Grief

I have really struggled this past week. With it being Easter and family time, I really felt the huge hole of him not being there. I have also been having a lot of stress and upset from one of my stepsons and it got to the stage where I did threaten to report him. He came back out of hiding and managed to get through to me and another threat but one where he also said he is done. He always seems to get through on the hardest weekends and this did not help my mood.

Time Out

On Saturday, C and I met up with my oldest friend and her mum for lunch and a bit of time out. My friend recently lost her dad so it was nice to get her mum out for a bit of company.

Yesterday, C met up with her friend and I picked her up from her house later in the afternoon. Her friend has a new puppy who is such a cutie but full of energy. She can not go out yet as not had all her vaccinations. We then popped in to IKEA (that is a lie who can just pop into IKEA), to look for bits for C heading to university. We got a few bits some where a great bargain as well.

Tomorrow

We are heading to my happy place, and seeing my grandkids. I can not wait and really need to see them and get my Nanny cuddles. It seems such a long time since we last saw them

  7. My highlight was seeing all the the bluebells and crocus s growing in the garden, the colours are beautiful

  8. Finding a favourite tribute artist is coming down the road from me. Any closer and he would have been next-door. We don’t need a car/bus/taxi/seaside donkey (lol) to get there, it’s a 10 minute walk (I walk slow lol). It’s a free event, but if you want a table you have to buy food as well (which will be a good idea as he is amazing).

  9. My April hlghlight was definitely enjoying the sunnier days, was lovely to get out and feel the sunshine!

  16. My April highlight is two fold. We held my granddaughter’s baby shower and celebrated my daughter’s 55th birthday. That makes me feel old, it only seems like yesterday that I was 55!

  17. My April highlight so far has been having a week off work over Easter and doing some family days out.

  18. Sounds like you have had an eventful week and I am glad overall, it was good. Easter weekend was a blast for us here and I can relate to you about your Dad and his diet…. my husband has cut back on all things bad for him…. to keep his cholesterol in check but his mom still buys him tons of junk that we are trying to avoid. Some people hate change or simply don’t get it. One or the other LOL…. I hope you have an amazing week this week!

  19. I’m glad your Dad is starting to recover and that his skin graft is healing nicely.

My April highlight has been making some progress with my doctor and hopefully I’m now on the way to getting the help I need for my eye issues.

I hope you enjoy seeing your grandkids today.

    1. We know dads recovery is going to be a slow and long one but every day he is a little better. Well done for making progress with your dr. I had a blast seeing my grandkids today

  20. Seeing my grandchildren (even though they are now adults) always cheers me up. Glad your Dad is improving. I understand how you are feeling over the Easter weekend,

  21. That’s good to hear that the skin graft on your dad is healing. I bet it feels like C going to university is coming around soo quickly x

  23. Have a lovely time seeing your grandkids today! I am glad that your Dad is healing after his operation. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the rest of the week!

  24. My April highlight was having my 18 year old granddaughter come to stay. This was the first time she has driven herself here (around 100 miles) A great visit apart from the 2-3 hours before and after it whilst she was driving!

  25. I have been able to spend the whole of the Easter holidays with my daughter. We have been on days out and spent time at home. I’ve loved every minute

  26. no highlights in this month. getting the days wrong and putting the bin out a day early does not count does it !

  27. Seeing the grandkids is going to be so good for your soul. I hope you have a wonderful visit with them.

  28. Oh, I’m sorry the holiday has been so hard, especially with the extra harassment. Hopefully, that will go away for a while, at least.

  29. Big occasions are always tough when you’re grieving, so well done for getting through it. Sometimes just acknowledging it can ease the difficulty slightly.

  30. I am so glad that your dad is healing, such a blessing. The struggle around diet what should be consumed or not, is never-ending. I go through this with my mom all the time lol

    1. We have a hospital appointment tomorrow to hopefully help with his swallowing as that will make eating a lot easier. But it is the constant battles I just can not cope with at the moment
