Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 09/11/2022

Another week has passed and time for my weekly round up post Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 09/11/2022. This is where I share what has been happening in the past week in the StressedMum household.

College

Last week I shared that we were still in half term holidays, and still had no idea as to what was happening with C’s maths class.

I emailed the college, and had an email confirming she was now in GCSE maths and the room to go to etc. Her lesson on Monday was cancelled, so her first lesson was yesterday, just before picking her up. She got in the car and broke down. The teacher had no idea she was going to the class, she was not on the register and sent C to sort it out. She walked all around the college trying to find the right person, which due to her fibromyalgia left her in a lot of pain. Someone saw her and helped her out. She went back to class given a workbook and told to get on with it, she had no idea what they were doing or the work.

I parked up, and went into college to sort it out. I spoke to a lovely man who was so helpful, and sorted out all my concerns. Also asked if she had extra tutoring, and spoke about very small tutoring groups in addition to class and would we like to put her onto one of the groups, which I said yes. There was an email when we got home and it is all arranged.

EHCP

Due to her illness, C has an EHCP in place. When talking to someone yesterday it seems, that although this is on her records, none of the points raised are being addressed. So another email in today trying to get this sorted for her. We will get it all sorted eventually.

Birthdays

This week we have had two very special birthday celebrations.

Somehow, C turned 19 on Monday. I still can not believe she is growing so fast and in her last year as a teen. She was in college all day, and in the evening we took her out for cocktails to the most amazing bar with the best cocktails.

This cheeky little munchkin and my youngest granddaughter is 2 today. She is growing into such a funny little character. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago, where she had Auntie C wrapped right around her little finger.

Drivers

drivers

Yesterday, you may have seen my Facebook post about something that happened to me yesterday

Anyone who has been in a car with me, will know I am confident and never get intimidated by other drivers.

If you are the driver of a 72 Ionis or what it is called well done. Just because I wouldn’t let you force your way in front of me, although you would have hit me, you drove right on my backside all the way following me, sat tooting at me at a roundabout when clearly you could see I couldn’t go and followed me all the way home.

You do not own the road, and just because you are a man in a big car does not give you the right to intimidate other drivers.

In all the years I have been driving I have never felt intimidated. I did see him again today but I was going the opposite direction. He also saw me.

I hope you all had a good week.

  1. Happy 19th to your girl! My boy is just about a month older. I had a similar struggle with his last high school, though fortunately, I didn’t have so far to walk which is good as it is I that has the fiber, but it is he that has the anxiety. And I trust you when you say you have never been intimidated by another driver. I wish I could say the same.

  2. Wishing your daughter and grand daughter a very happy belated birthday 😍. Yesterday, I celebrated my mom’s birthday too! Glad C’s college related issues are sorted now 🙂.

  3. I have been followed by an aggressive driver too. My sister and brother in law were in the front yard waiting for me to get home. I didn’t even know they were coming over. It was good I guess because when the driver saw them he honked, flipped me off and drove off. Rude drivers/road rage stinks.

    1. I have been driving for 35 years, and it is the first time I have ever felt intimidated. Not sure why, I have no idea where he thought I could go as there is no way I am going to pull out and get hit by a lorry, it was the fact he was right up the back of me. There is no need for it, and driving like that really doesn’t get you anywhere any quicker

  4. Happy birthday to your granddaughter she looks really so cute. I will have to check out your post on gift ideas for kids.

    1. Thank you, she had an amazing day and she is very cute, but if she doesn’t know you can give such a cutting look. i hope I have given you some inspiration

  5. Aww happy birthday to C! What a lovely time out for your two 🙂 I love seeing how close you are..it’s so special to have that connection.

  6. It’s good news that you found a helpful person at the college who knew what he was doing and helped you sort things out. The rude driver I hope he gets what he deserves one of these days.

  7. It seems like more & more drivers are driving like A-holes lately! Also it is crazy how quickly kids grow up isn’t it?

  8. We have minibus taxis here who think they own the road so you have to be tough on our roads but it is still not very pleasant when it happens.

  9. It’s so crazy how fast time flies. One minute, the kids are crawling and the next, they’re off to college.

  10. Oh no! Poor C, it sounds like she was having a right mess around at college. I am glad you have got the maths lessons sorted, I hope you get the EHCP issues sorted.
Your gift guides have been fantastic and have given me some ideas.
Happy birthday to C and your granddaughter.
That is awful about that driver, surely following you home and intimidating you like that is a criminal offence. I would report it. Sending hugs. x
