We all know how hard it can be trying to find the perfect flooring for your home. With so many things to consider, from wear and tear, depending on which room it is going in. Do you have pets or children, that could ruin a carpet or scratch a wooden floor? Then of course there’s the skirting boards to think about. Can you keep the one you have already, or will you need to get them replaced to fit with your new flooring? It’s important to consider skirting boards in your budget so you aren’t left with an unexpected cost later down the line. The question is when to look at alternative flooring.

Our Bathroom Overhaul
You may remember early last year, we totally gutted our bathroom and fitted a new one. The one thing we could not agree on was the flooring. We argued over tiles, lino even wooden laminated flooring. Not to be beaten, my husband looked into epoxy resin flooring.
When I say he looked into it, he read up loads and watched videos, before putting it to me for the final decision. It is not the cheapest option, but we agreed to go ahead. My husband is crafty and very hands on with the diy. He had fitted our new bathroom, so I had faith he would do a good job.
After a lot of playing with colours, and one of the dogs getting in and leaving paw prints, while it was tacky. This is the final floor, the video really does not do it justice.
The process is easy once, you have the right quantities. In my very unprofessional terms, once the epoxy resin is made to the right quantities. You just pour out and it finds its way into all the corners. Leaving the finish looking neat and tidy.
How To Get This Flooring
I would say that most people would be like me, and love the idea of this, but would not know where to start. Which is why you can find an epoxy resin flooring contractor. Who will do the job for you.
It is so easy to keep clean, and a year on still looks like it has just been put down. What I love about it the most is, you can choose what ever colours you want, add glitter as we did. Plus you will know no one will have the same flooring as you, and it will last and look as good as new in years to come.
Have you thought of having epoxy resin flooring?

It is something we are considering when we move as there will be no proper flooring and we have to provide it!
I love the floor and it is so easy to keep looking clean as welll, and you can customise it to what colour you want
Resin flooring looks great. My neighbours have done their path with it too and it looks amazing
I love ours, never thought of doing a path with it. You now have ideas going through my mind
I did not even know you could get resin flooring! Thank you so much for sharing, it looks really great.
I had no idea until we did ours, it is great and so easy to maintain as well
Your bathroom floor looks amazing! I wish I could have epoxy resin in my bathroom, but I’m in a rented property at the minute. Hopefully one day I’ll have my own place and be able to have a beautiful floor like this!!

I love it and it is so easy to look after as well x
We found the bathroom the hardest room to decorate. We couldn’t decide on tiles, floors, suite everything. Luckily we finally found some tiles and we went with them for the floor
It was hard, we could not agree either, but do love our flooring now and glad we went for it
Wow what a floor!! I love how different that is, nice to have something that not everyone has when it comes to things in our home
I love the floor and it comes to life at night as the glitter sparkles
Yes, we could use a flooring update. We’ve got a corner that’s coming apart in the bathroom.
This is honestly, the best bathroom flooring we have had
We are still in the midst of doing some DIY work to our home but not considered epoxy resin flooring before this. This looks like a good option to keep the floor clean and modern looking
It is a great flooring, and also gives you something unique, it also is not cold to walk on in the colder months
yes, i have thought about this flooring. Right now we are renovating. I have chosen tiles for downstairs and floating timber flooring for upstairs. We have 3 bathrooms still deciding on. Your article has made me think this is a way to go. Looks amazing and I love the glitter. Question … what tiles or material did you use on the walls?
I am so glad we went for this flooring. On the walls they are painted apart from the shower area, where my husband used epoxy as well. Which again will make changing them easier if we want to change the colour scheme at some point
I have tiling in mine but sounds like a good alternative option for bathroom flooring!
I did want tiles originally, but so glad we went for this option
We have an ongoing renovation of our house, this will help me a lot. Your floor looks beautiful.
Thank you, I am glad it has given you some ideas
I had no idea epoxy was even an option for flooring to be honest. We opted for wooden effect tiles in all of our bathrooms/ toilets as it doesn’t look like tile at all x
I had no idea either, it was my husband who came up with the idea, and I love the flooring especially at night or when the sun is shining
I’ve recently been looking into new flooring for my living room. This was very helpful. Thanks for the share!
I am glad it has given you some ideas
That is gorgeous! I would love a floor like that in my kitchen, the colors look beautiful against the black.
I want it in my kitchen as well but with it being huge as we have the dining room as well it is not practical at the moment.
That does sound different for flooring. We’ve never thought to use epoxy resin before. I do love that you can add glitter to the resin it’s such a lovely and different touch. I’ll need to look into it further.
The video doesn’t really do the flooring justice, at night it really comes to life sparkling
Alternative floors? Yes thank you, because I hate the things that everyone has, but chosen wisely before being original you risk being too original!
It is a great way to have a flooring that is pracitcal and looks great, and is unique to what you want. I am so glad we did our bathroom floor this way
The ideas are fab – love to overhaul ours home
It is a great flooring, I would love to get our kitchen dining room floor done but not practical with the dogs at the moment as you need to leave it to dry off
I have carpet and tiles around my home but somehow I want to remove the carpet in the living and replace with something else just don’t know what.
It is difficult finding the right floor that works with the room
I’ve read a lot about epoxy flooring but we’re happy with our flooring for now. Epoxy flooring is awesome I think.
I love ours, and love how easy it is to keep looking clean
We Need new flooring in our living room. I am wanting wooden but my husband wants carpet. I have never thought about epoxy flooring before. Your floor looks gorgeous and I love the added glitter
It is hard to agree on flooring at times, we just couldn’t agree on what we liked or wantted, but so glad we did go with this and the glitter looks great when the light is on
Epoxy resin is a great choice. It might cost more up front, but the durability is so worth it!
I love ours and a year on, it still looks like new
I am about to change up our bathroom floor but not heard of this so will be looking into this – thanks for the tip!
It is a great choice idea, and you can customise to what colour you want it, ours is a year old now and still looks like new
He has done very well to do this! Think I would definitely need a contractor to do mine!
I love the look of epoxy resin. We have Kardean flooring in our bathroom. Which basically looks like grey wooden planks but it is waterproof.
I wanted something similar to you, I wasn’t sure of the epoxy flooring to start with but soon changed my minnd
We had a long debate over what flooring we should have when we redid our bathroom too but in the end we settled with a ceramic tiling and went for a whole wet room. Slate was going to be our other choice.
That was my first choice as well, but am so glad we did this as it is so easy to keep clean. We have also done our conservatory flooring with it as well
