Take the uncertainty out of selling
One of the parts of moving house that can cause your anxiety to skyrocket is the UK property market. In this country there is so much uncertainty in the process of buying and selling. With anyone able to pull out at the last minute, causing the whole chain to collapse.
This is so unsettling, especially if you need to move for schools. So if you want to cut this out completely it’s worth considering a service like We Buy Any House. These guys will give you a free cash offer within minutes and you can choose your completion date. Making it so much easier to plan your move.

Get organised
When you’ve got a whole family to plan around, getting yourself organised is vital. Do this in a way that suits you and your family. For some people this might be paper lists. For others maybe it’s a nice big corkboard with key tasks pinned to it. The important thing is that everyone is on board and understands the system.
Having a moving house checklist will give you so much more clarity around what needs to be done by when and can help you to feel in control. It’s very easy to forget important jobs when you’ve got a lot going on around you. So having things in one simple checklist minimises the chances of you missing a vital job.
Don’t be afraid to accept help
As parents, we’re used to getting stuff done and being independent, but there is absolutely no shame in asking for and accepting help when you’re going through a stressful process like moving house. If friends or family offer their help, say yes, and even if they don’t, you can always ask! The kind of help they can offer will vary, but it could be anything from looking after the kids for you while you get on with sorting and packing to helping lift and carry things on the big day.
There are plenty of smaller jobs too that you can delegate, such as trips to the recycling centre or charity shop, food shopping and even meal preparation if you have someone who likes to cook. Packing up a kitchen can be tricky when you still need to eat, so having someone bring you a meal or two can be a lifesaver.
