The Comfort Object I Always Return To in Autumn

Today is day 25 of the Blogtober 2025 challenge. Today the topic is The Comfort Object I Always Return To in Autumn.

Spring and Summer seem to sneak in. However, Autumn seems to come leaping in shouting out I am here. As the days get shorted and the weather gets cooler. So what do I always return to when Autumn arrives.

Slippers

Slippers

During Autumn and Winter, I always reach for my slippers. I always know that Autumn has arrived when my slippers make their return. My feet do get hot other times of the year but during the colder months there is nothing nicer than coming home and putting on my trusted slippers.

Cosy Clothing

Cosy Clothing

There has to be some joy in getting up on a cold, wet and dark morning. Putting on those cosy jumpers always helps me feel that bit better. There is nothing better than wearing your favourite jumper or joggers.

Fluffy Socks

C has always loved her fluffy socks. This year she has managed to show me how cosy these are and now has got me into wearing them and they are what I love while relaxing in the evening when putting my feet up for the day.

Hot Chocolate

On a cold and wet Autumn evening or Sunday afternoon. There is something special about a warm mug of hot chocolate. This is a go to pick me up for both C and myself.

After my husband died I treated us to a velvetiser and we have had the most amazing hot chocolates. Although it was not really used during the summer months.

Other things that bring me comfort when Autumn returns are of course my scented candles and my warm throws for when the evenings start to turn chilly.

  1. Autumn is the right season to get back to our comfort objects in my opinion. Cozy clothing is a must for this particular time of the year.

  2. Yes to all of these! The only thing for me is that I wish I was more adventurous with hot chocolates. I love the look of all the fancy hot chocs that come out at this time of year, but I just can’t get on with them.
