Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 29/01/2025

We are now at Wednesday again, I swear the weeks are getting shorter. Or is it just that I am so busy the days all role into one. This means it is time for my weekly round up post Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 29/01/2025.

Health

health

I mentioned last week that C is struggling at the moment. She is getting pains in her chest and breathlessness. Which is affecting her sleep, which is having a knock on affect to her ME and Fibromyalgia. Her Cardiology appointment is in June.

We saw our GP on Monday who is contacting Cardiology. to see if they can offer any advice while we wait.

Today, she is off college as you can imagine she is really struggling. Luckily she is just missing one lesson and her tutor is very supportive. I am also going to speak to Cariology later to see if I can speak to someone who can offer support or advice.

An update on me

As you are aware I had my Neurology appointment last week. The appointment went well, the Dr was lovely and after numerous questions and tests. She confirmed there was a problem. Although I knew this it was refreshing to hear that it is not all just in my head.

I have not had her letter through yet, but have seen it on the NHS app. Plus I have recevied my MRI date for the end of February. Where I have to have 3 separate MRI scans. This is scaring me, I have never had an MRI before but have been in with C when she had one, and that was scary enough as they are so noisy. Plus you have to remain totally still. Which I just know I will have an itch, or want to cough or sneeze just because I know I cant.

Recipes

Recipes

As you will have seen, 2025 is the year I am going to start adding new meals and trying new recipes. I want to move away from jars and packets and convenience. Start cooking from scratch a lot more. In case you have missed them my recipes so for January are –

These have all been a hit and quite proud of my 3 out of 3 success. Next week I am doing a chicken dish.

Budgie Update

Budgie Update

It has been a while since I did an update, and a lot of you are asking after them.

  • Willow is just Willow. She rules the cage we have finally found something she is not keen on eating and so funny watching her chuck it out of the bowls. She is still a Daddy’s girl and follows Louie around. But is also best friends with Beanie and Winnie and she loves copying what they are doing.
  • Snowy loves a bath – in fact she is the only one who does bath. Not in a bird bath that we do have but in the water bowl. But only if it is fresh water and non of the others have had a drink out of it
  • The pic of Pippy and Gizmo our original two out of the 7 we now have. Gizmo is going through a moult at the moment and probably his worse one ever. He is still just as cheeky though

What I Am Loving

Morueats Asian Shop

Asian Snacks

One Aisle I always go down in the Supermarket is the Asian asile. C has always had a fascination with anything Asian from learning to speak Mandarin when she was in Primary School, to loving everything Japanese and more. It is lovely that this has stuck with her.

I was recently contacted by Morueats to see if I would like to review some Asian snacks and treats. We chose the following –

  • Nissin Spicy Noodles – Lovely on their own or mixed with vegetables or chicken
  • Nissin Pork Noodles – C does not like pork so I had these. My go to is chicken noodles. I was open to trying the pork flavour and really enjoyed them
  • Hello Panda Chocolate Treats – I will admit these are a favourite with C and she does get them when we go shopping. I had not tried them before but they are a tasty chocolate treat
  • Want Want Mini Senbei Chicken Rice Crackers – We do snack on rice crackers both sweet and savoury. So was intrigued to try these. They are tiny little rice cakes with a good coating of flavour. They were nice but not 100% on. Saying that would have them again to pick at
  • Melon Milk – If like me this sounds disgusting but I do not like melon. C loved it said it is weird as the description is melon and milk and you would think it would not mix well. She says it tastes just like melon and nothing artificial
  • Oishi Soft Milk Candy Strawberry Flavour – If you love strawberry flavoured sweets you will love these. C says they are a bit like a flavoured milk bottle sweet. I tried one and then ended up having to move away. They are very moreish – you have been warned

It’s The Dogs

It's The Dogs

This is a review that Bear could take part in. He can pull the most sorrowful of faces. But when I opened the box of It’s The Dogs treats, he was there straight away.

We gave him one and he picked it up dropped it and then picked it up again and left it in his mouth. His mouth was watering but he wanted another one before he ate the first. We gave in and let him have a second and he loved them. He does love peanut butter so we knew it would be a hit with him

  1. Sorry to hear about C it must be so worrying for you. It is good to hear she is getting support from her tutor

  2. I really want to start cooking from scratch more this year too. Spaghetti bologese and chilli seem to be my go to. I need more inspo though so I’m definitely going to check out your beef bourguignon recipe. I tried Morueats recently too – The melon milk wasn’t for me haha.

    Claire.X

  3. C is really strong, you both are. I hope there is a reprieve with pain and struggles and more answers are given soon. Good luck with your MRI, closing your eyes seems to help.

  4. Lovely to have a budgie update. They’re all looking really bonny and observing their unique little personalities is an absolute delight.

Just realised it’s February already. Hope you have a good month.

  5. I’ve never owned birds before, even though I have had a lot of different pets over the years. It is interesting to learn about what they are like as pets.

  6. Those recipes sound good. I am always on the lookout for new recipes to try. Will try yours sometime. And I hope y’all feel better soon.

  7. I’m really sorry to hear the c is struggling right now, but its great to hear that you’re being proactive with getting support. Glad to hear that the appointment went well and you got your conformation.

  8. I am so sorry C is not feeling well, I hope she gets better. The traditional Spaghetti Bolognaise is awesome. I can’t wait to make it.

  9. It sounds like there is a lot going on when it comes to doctors in your household! MRI’s always seem more scary then they are. I wish you the best of luck.

  10. MRI’s are not fun, but at least they’re going to be able to do some more thorough checks on you, and hopefully you get some answers. I remember having one when I was younger and I was able to give them music to play (I’m not sure if that’s still a thing now), and I wanted something fun, but my mum said that it would encourage me to want to move so she made me listen to classical music which wasn’t fun. I’ll never forget that haha x

    1. C has had 3 my husband went in with her for 2 of them I was with her for one of them. The machine is so noisy. They play you music apparently I wouldn’t be happy with classical either us mums are horrible at times haha

  11. Willow looks so old now! Pleased you have a date for your MRI scan as hopefully you will finally get some answrs

  12. Sorry to hear that about your daughter, it must be so so hard seeing her struggling so much. As least her tutor is understanding. It’s good that you are finally getting somwhere with your issues. Yes I cant believe how quickly the weeks fly by.

  13. trying to be healthy here too
have had chest and breathing difficulties for over 10 years
tried lots of medication to no avail
hopefully you’ll get answer in june

  14. I hope C gets better soon! Health is so important. Literally THE most important aspect of life. There’s nothing without it. I learned it myself the hard way. Keep going! Xo.

  15. Don’t worry about the MRI! They’ve very easy. You just lay there. I’ve had several. They’re about the easiest thing you’ll ever do.

  16. I’m glad to hear the university is being so understanding about her health issues. That has to at least alleviate some of the stress.
