Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 08/01/2025

How are we all coping with back to normality. I did not like having to get up early today to a totally white car due to frost. We have been lucky and the snow we had on Saturday was washed away by rain by Sunday morning, At least we are now half way through the week, which must mean it is time for my weekly Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 08/01/2025.

Health

health

I mentioned last week, that we have finally had the results of C’s 24 hour heart monitor. She was put on Beta Blockers until her cardiology appointment came through. Sadly, the first medication caused hallucinations and then the second lot just wiped her out.

We were back at the Drs on Monday, and it was agreed although not pleasant C was coping better without the medication than with it.

Just a wait now for her appointment to come through.

Washing Up

washing up

Just before Christmas our dishwasher broke. It has been going for a long time and I tried everything to get it working properly again. So it has been back to old fashioned washing up. It has not been too bad aart from my poor old Dad. As you know my parents live with us and I found hi just turning the hot tap on and rinsing the washing up wuthout using hot water or washing up liquid. I did wonder why I was having to wash things up after getting them out the cupboard.

My Mum had also caught him and told him not too, which I also did. So yesterday I ordered a new dishwasher. That was harder than I thought with no stock in etc. But have a nice shiny new dishwasher being delivered tomorrow. So at least I can have clean items in my home and not have to re wash before using.

What I Am Loving

Life Supplies

Before Christmas I was sent the UK’s first refillable toothpaste. This is a product we all use daily and although I do try to be eco-friendly where ever possible. I had never thought about toothpaste. This is a product I use daily and purchase as required. Throwing away the tubes without a second thought.

When I was contacted to ask if I would like to review the toothpaste. I was intrigued and said yes. As I mentioned above I have had this since before Christmas and have been using since receiving it.

I was sent a full sleek glass and metal refillable toothpaste bottle to review.

  • No more struggling with messy tubes – one pump gives you what you need without waste of too much toothpaste
  • A lovely minty taste
  • Leaves your mouth feeling clean and fresh
Life Supplies refill

When you need to refill you just top up with a pouch which is –

  • 100% compostable
  • No plastic
  • Made from sugarcane waste
  • Each pouch refills your bottle once

The toothpaste is –

  • Dentist approved
  • Cruelty free
  • Zero waste compostable refills
  • Vegan
  • Proven to whiten & protect

What is there not to like. I am definitely sold on this and will be subscribing to the refills

  1. Oh no about the dishwasher, I couldn’t live without ours now, it’s mostly just nice to have somewhere to put cups and plates during the day so they don’t build up on the side!

    Corinne x

  2. I’m aiming to do my first half marathon over the Summer, so my main resolution is training for that.

  3. My 2025 resolution is to cycle more and use the car less. Saves money and gets me a littler healthier.

  4. No, I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution this year because I find New Year’s to be the most depressing holiday.

  5. Every year I try to start January with a savings resolution but then bills go up and I end up spending what I’ve saved!

  6. I think next year I am going to resolve never to make any resolutions again. My annual decluttering resolution never seems to get very far!

  7. Not an official resolution but to try and be better in general, whether that is eating habits, exercise, or just being a better human being.

  8. I did this year, I want to declutter my house so I’ve started with one room and so far have sold 2 items on Vinted, got alot to do but it’s a start!

  9. No, I haven’t been doing for many years; I normally do something like that in February closer to my birthday

  10. My new years resolution was to keep consistent with the gym and eating which I’m doing! I’ve lost weight in the last 5 months os hoping to keep up with it before my wedding 🙂

  11. No, I do not make New Years resolutions, I make my goals throughout the year as needed instead of one random time in the year.

  12. Once you get used to having a dishwasher it’s a nightmare when they break down, glad you’ve got another one now. x

  13. Mine is to take a bit more time out of myself to relax or just have some down time. It sounds silly but I’m not very good at it.

  14. I did and it was to look after myself more! That might sound selfish but I need to keep a better check on my health, get out and meet up with friends and enjoy myself and to make time for hobbies too.

  15. Mine was to go to the gym more and consistently. So this month I aim to go to the gym just once a week, then the next month twice a week. Small steps but being consistent. So far so good, even though I really can’t be bothered at times.

  16. I had some targets rather than New Years Resolutions – one to complete 4 rows of my crochet blanket a day and one to read every day. I haven’t done 4 rows everyday, but I am further along than I would have been

  17. yes im determined to try to stress less smilel more and enjoy llife without being afraid of everything@

  18. I didn’t make a New Year’s Resolution as such but I will be working on my upper body stength this year as I am on the waiting list for an operation which will leave me on crutches for 3 months.

  19. The refillable toothpaste sounds intriguing. I recycle my empty tubes at Boots but the plastic free sachets for this sound great.

    1. I am loving everything about the refillable toothpaste. From the lovely pump bottle that gives you just the right amount of toothpaste. To the ease of refilling

  20. I know how you feel waking up to a car with frost or snow. it’s so much more extra work after the holiday season.

  21. Aww I do hope she is feeling better soon and her appointment at the doctors can help her get the right medication

    1. Thank you, she is off the beta blockers now and back to her normal self, obviously not great but better than when on the medication. She also had her botox for her migraines today so feeling a little sore

      1. It’s not something I make a habit of doing but this year we have said that we will try ad have more fun this year

  22. Getting back into the work routine definitely comes as a shock. It is very cold here, in the single digits many mornings. I don’t like winters at all!

  23. Happy New Years to you and your family, I hope everything with C is sorted out well soon. I have made a nice list of resolutions I want to complete this year, and I even added bonus ones if I finish early, LOL!

    1. Happy New Year, hopefully we do not have to wait too long for C’s appointment. Good luck with your resolutions and your bonus ones which I am sure you will achieve

  24. I don’t make New Year resolutions as I know they are too long term and I’m sure to fail. Instead I am in the habit on a Sunday night to think of one thing to focus on in the week ahead. This week was to set aside half an hour a day with a book, a brew and a blanket and escape into another world. My only problem has been I have had a tendency to miss the return journey back to reality once I’ve escaped and then stress about all the things I still need to get done in a day!

    1. What a great idea I love this idea, although not the return journey of remembering everything else. I am sure there is a solution somewhere to this

  25. I’m not really one for making new years resolutions, but I want to continue prioritising my health 🙂

  26. Hallucinations and feeling wiped out is awful, I’m sure. Hope doctors were able to find a solution.

    1. I did panic a bit when she mentioned the hallucinations, but had to stay calm for her. We eventually started laughing about it so the chat must have got through to her. Just need to get her hospital appointment to come through now

  27. I made a New Year’s resolution to catch up on all my health-related appointments (optician, dentist, etc) as I’ve fallen behind with quite a few. That being said, it’s now 2025 and I still haven’t booked in for any check-ups!

  28. I am trying to use more products that are refillable and it’s great to know there’s a toothpaste option, I’ll need to look into those. I don’t know what I’d do without our dishwasher! x

  29. Must admit I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, so no I didn’t make any I’, m afraid

  30. My dishwasher broke down before Christmas and I thought I could manage ok without it but you can’t get glasses sparkling clean like you can in a dishwasher. That refillable toothpaste looks interesting, wonder why no-one has thought of it before

    1. We have just had our new one delivered, just need my husband to have a break in working and he will install it for me. It has not been too bad washing up really but agree about the glasses not coming out shiny. The refillable toothpaste is such a great idea, I am loving just pumping out with no mess

    1. Happy New Year. Not sure how long the wait time is but I do know it is a busy department as my Dad is also under them. You should have seen my reaction when she told me about the hallucinations.

  31. The frost has been really a lot to deal with when going out in the morning! I cannot believe your dad was just rinsing dishes – oh no.

    1. The frost has been a nightmare. I know I stood there open mouthed watching and then telling him. The my mum walked in the kitchen and said she has told him as well. Our new dishwasher is being delivered today so at least that is one thing we will not need to worry about

  32. have my hair cut 💇‍♀️ for little princess trust : been growing since lockdown – I’m actually so nervous !

  33. I love the idea of a refillable toothpaste! Will ask my Mum to check that out for me (she’s back in the UK now that the holidays are over).

  34. No not really although last year I really wanted to take a craft class at my local yarn shop and they sell out really quickly so I used to always miss them but I was determined to do one this year and I’ve booked one for February so mission accomplished already!

  35. None made. Better to try be happy and change/tweak along the way than to fail first thing and feel miserable

  36. I have made one to carry on not drinking any alcohol, to see if I can make it to a year which will be in August.

  37. No, because I don’t know what. One of the main problems in my life is that I know I need to change some things about it, but don’t know what to change them to, so I wind up carrying on as before for fear of jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

  38. I made the mistake of making a resolution but my health has made it impossible to stick to. I’m pretty bummed about it but I’m hoping to keep at some revised version of my plan.

  39. I’ve promised myself I won’t let myself get pulled into stressful situations – not my circus, not my monkeys!

  40. Man, that is such a bummer about C. I hope her next appointment goes better and they can giver her something that actually helps her!

    1. I know, bless her although you should have seen my reaction when she told me about the hallucinations. It is just a wait now until she gets her Cardiologist appointment

    1. Thank you, she does need answers and hopefully we are now on the way once her Cardiologist appointment comes through. She amazes me and inspires me so much with her determination

  41. No I didn’t…if I did it would be something to do with food/chocolate etc and there’s always so much left over from Christmas

  42. I just committed to continuing my efforts to lose weight. I lost 3 stone last year but need to shift a bit more and it’s getting more difficult to keep going 😖

  43. I didn’t, I would like to lose a bit of weight but I eat my Christmas goodies so slow that I have some left haha

  44. I didn’t make a new years resolution, but am attempting to eat a bit healthier and increase my activity level!

  45. I made a resolution to go on a diet eat healthy and to walk 10,000 steps per daily and to go on holiday as much as I can possibly afford

  46. Not a New’s Years Resolution as such but made a plan to be more organised using a daily planner so far I am doing well x

  47. No, I haven’t made one this year. I’ve kind of got good intentions, ha ha, but I didn’t want to feel stressed out by making them into a solid resolution.

  48. No I didn’t make one this year because I never stick to it. I’m always trying to be healthier.

  49. I haven’t made any resolutions for this year because they are usually diet-related and I find them hard to stick to! It’ll probably be easier for me to make progress without the pressure of saying I’ve made it my New Year’s resolution.

    1. I have done exactly the same, I am making small changes and then adding as I go through the year. That way it is not about healthy eating and losing weight. It is gradual and takes away the pressure

  50. Rather than setting New Year’s resolutions, I have made a bingo card sheet of all my goals for the year. The main one is to finally learn how to drive! Others include, go on a writer’s retreat, learn to make sourdough and join a book club 🥰

    1. What a great idea, good luck with learning to drive. I have always wanted to make sour dough. My Dad is a retired baker so I should use his experience and make it and get his help if needed

  51. I made a New Year’s Resolution many years ago to not make any more new year’s resolutions, so that I wouldn’t disappoint myself any more, and I have stuck to it!

    1. I did exactly the same, although I saw one of Facebook the other day made a resolution to get up each morning and make a coffee so far I am nailing it
