Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 25/06/2026

I am a day late with my weekly round up Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 25/06/2026. It has been one of those weeks where it has been one step forward and two steps backwards.

My Week

This Week

Health

We are still having daily radiotherapy treatment for my dad just over two weeks to go now. It is really affecting him and in his weekly check up they could see how sore his mouth is. I will say they are amazing for care and even after messaging on Monday morning, by the time we got to the hospital there was a prescription ready to help make things a little easier for him but a carrier bag full.

C had her neurologist appointment yesterday and she was left in tears. She was not really listened too and they are going to try medication that she has tried before. It broke my heart and we looked at a couple of machine things that was recommended to her as well, but not available on the NHS. I told her to have a look and let me know which one she wants to try. Have now ordered her one so will let you know how she goes with it.

I am getting over a rotten cold, and this morning sneezed and did something to my neck. So trying to get it working properly without too much pain. As I need to drive to the hospital for Dad.

The Heat

heat

How hot has it been?

I do not cope well in extreme heat and it has been very extreme with red weather warnings.

I have ice and tons of water cold in the fridge and drinking much more than I am eating at the moment as it is just too hot to eat.

How are you all coping? Do you have any tips for staying cool?

Pets

I see so many people walking their dogs throughout the day. This makes me so angry and wanting me to tell them to put on a fur coat and walk bare footed to see how they cope. Please if you do have a dog walk them early morning or late at night. Or if like my dog, just keep him home and play in the garden when it is cooler.

What I Am Loving

TRIP

TRIP

I know everyone is struggling with sleep at the moment, I have struggled with sleep since losing my husband last year very suddenly. Before I used to sleep very well but that day changed everything.

I was offered the chance to try TRIP. A new night-time range designed to help people build a simple, effective evening ritual that supports calm nights and clearer mornings. TRIP has been created to help wind down and promote an easy sleep routine.

  • Dream Powder combines tart cherry with natural minerals and calming ingredients like magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, chamomile, and lavender to create a powder that can be stirred into hot or cold water for a delicious drink before bed, or whenever it’s time to start winding down for the night.
  • Dream Gummies are a quick and easy option combining magnesium, vitamin B6, chamomile, and lavender alongside a broader botanical blend.  Designed for effortless evening calm, they are perfect for those who are looking for more simplicity and ease.

I have been trying both the powder and the gummies. Although my sleep is erratic due to the heat. I have slept better than I normally would in the heat. I will be carrying on and hopefully will find they give me a full nights sleep when the weather is cooler.

  1. I hope you are feeling better now and your neck has gotten. better, Sometimes if I sleep wrong my neck will act up and there is nothing worse that is for sure. I always enjoy your weekly recaps and hope that you are able to stay cool in the hot weather. Sounds like you know what you are doing…..

  2. Oh, dear. Don’t get me started on people and dogs! It’s wonderful that people adopt them and love them and I’m always delighted when I cross paths with some of my favourites when I’m out. However, it’s too hot for daytime walkies at the moment. Invest in a small and inexpensive aircon unit for them indoors, instead. Likewise, cats benefit from shady and breezy areas either inside or outside.

I was raised Down Under so am quite used to the heat although I’m expecting the mother of all water bills soon as I’m showering and changing twice and day and watering my garden a lot more than usual.

Sending you and your family healthful wishes for the week ahead.

    1. I get so angry when I see people walking their dogs, even C starts as well now. It is so unfair just leave them alone and keep them as cool as possible. The birds have been struggling in the heat and they have a fan to try to keep them cool

  3. I have not been dealing well with this heat as well! We have the pool for the kids but deffo need more aircon. I cannot sleep at all – and will have to try Trip in which case.

  4. I’m glad that you have found something that is improving your sleep. Hopefully, it will be even more effective when the weather cools down.

  5. I am hearing about Trip for the first time and how it can help in sleeping well throughout the entire night. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Will have to check it out.

  6. Living in Florida means the heat can get pretty intense during the day. Miss Dixie and I go very early in the morning so we can beat the heat. Praying that your health issues will get better soon.

  7. SO sad that Doctors are not doing their jobs like they should, they just don’t listen to the patients anymore! I hope you find a solution to getting some much-needed sleep soon, but I do understand it can be hard due to stress and the heat. We are headed to temps over 100 next week so, I’m not going out for anything…I don’t do well with the heat

    1. Drs seem to not read patients notes fully these days or listen which really does not help. I do not envy you those temperatures, we luckily have a few days of cooler weather

  8. I’ve been looking after my daughter’s dog this week. I’m not sure he appreciated going for a walk at 6 am but once out he enjoyed it. The rest of the day,he was happy in the shade in the garden. Sorry hear about C’s problems

    1. Honestly I do not understand the why people insist on walking their dogs in this heat. This week has been tough and now had to get emergency dentist for Caitlin

  9. The heat is crazy. My daughter has been suffering in it, feeling nauseaus. It is just too hot for this country to cope with. WIshing you all a restful weekend!

  10. Hope the last 2 weeks of radiotherapy go okay and fingers crossed the new machine thingy will bring some relief for C

  11. Oh wow. It seems like doctors don’t listen no matter where you are. I live in the States, and it’s the same problem over here.

  12. agree ! some people need to catch on the sun is so dangerous for animals – i dont cope well either and stay inside – luckily I have good neighbours who do bits of shopping for me

    1. I will say my dog has no interest in going for a walk at the moment he looks so sorry for himself. I am not coping great either but do have to venture out

  13. I have been struggling with sleep for months now, I am not sure if this is related to stress or the weather. I will definitely try TRIP, I love the idea of creating a routine.
