Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 03/06/2026

Another week has passed and hopefully this week, I will start and finish my weekly Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 03/06/2026, today. I just seem to be being pulled in so many directions lately.

I also need to apologise for jinxing the weather and moaning about how hot it was last week. Yesterday we had storms and today it has been raining.

My week

This Week

Health

We have had another week full of health issues. C started her new medication from her Neurologist last Wednesday. We were told to look for a rash and to go straight to A&E. She did not get a rash but she had a feeling of bugs crawling under her skin. Of course she told me Friday evening, so we got through the weekend and on Monday I tried speaking to someone.

I emailed the hospital and got nothing back, so spent the afternoon phoning to try to speak to someone. I was finally given an email address for her Consultants Secretary. Caitlin was told to stop taking the medication and she will be in contact when next at the hospital. Hopefully that will be today.

Dad

On Monday my Dad started his radiotherapy, as it was the first session it was a bit longer and then we had to go to the other side of the hospital for blood tests. We were also given a new list of appointments as some of his radiotherapy timings had changed. Yesterday, we had to ask for some to be changed as I have to take C into college.

So far he is doing ok, but we do know that radiotherapy is a staging treatment, with a little each day and that the side effects will kick in within 2-3 weeks. I am glad we have the weekends off though.

My Health

Yesterday I was not well, I felt so ill but had to take Dad for his treatment as Mum will not drive there. I then had to go to pharmacy to pick a prescription for Dad while they sat and waited for his treatment. I came back and Mum asked if I was ok, and I had to tell her again no I am not feeling great. When we got home I just went to bed. Today, I still do not feel right but not as bad. I am blaming the weather

Grief

Yesterday was 16 months that I lost my husband. I am so low and missing him so much and nobody seems to see it. I can not stop the tears and even when I do speak up about how I feel. It is thrown back in my face.

Time Out

C and I did manage some time out over the weekend. On Saturday, we popped into town and I got a dress reduced to £5 which I am very happy about. I did get the dress in a different colour a few weeks ago for £5 and then decided to get another colour but it had gone back to normal price. Then Saturday it was reduced again and I snapped it up.

We also went to the cinema on Sunday, which I loved as I can turn my phone off and just hide away with no interruptions. Then we headed to a local farm shop before coming home. But it was the little break we both needed.

    1. Honestly, I think there would be something wrong if I was not dealing with a healh issue. It sounds like you had the perfect day to yourself

  37. The highlight of my week and indeed year is yet to come. Tomorrow, after an almost 4 year wait I am having the first of my cataracts removed. The joy of being able to read a real book again will be something very special to me. A Kindle has been great for allowing me to adjust text to a size I can read but I just don’t get the same pleasure from an e-book. I should be able to drive again after a two year break but not so excited about that as it just gets me from A to B……no pleasure involved!

    1. That is something to celebrate, my mum had her cataracs done a couple of years ago and the difference has been amazing. my mother in law had hers done last year and made such a difference. I am not keen on using a kindle as prefer a proper book. C loves her kindle and is whizzing through books at the moment
