Here we are at Wednesday again, the sun is shining and it feels like Winter is definitely behind us. This also means it is time for my weekly round up post Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 18/03/2026.

My Week

Health
I will start with my Dad, I do feel sorry for him having both my Mum and myself nagging him. His operation is next Tuesday, which we are all dreading but thankful it is now here. You can really see he is struggling with his eating now.
C is struggling with her migraines at the moment and waiting for an appointment to come through. I have chased as she only has one week until she has to have her treatment again and have not heard anything.
Heating
I mentioned last week that our boiler was messing around and had stopped working. We had a lovely engineer out who got it working. It had apparently overheated. On his advice and also knowing it was very old (installed in 1998), we booked for a new boiler quote.
So on Friday, we had someone come and see us and we agreed to having a new boiler and also something fitted to make the radiators work better. My mum wanted it done asap, where as I wanted my dad to be recovered from his op and be feeling better before we had people in working around the house. So booked for beginning of July.
Declutter
This brings me on to the discussion of decluttering. As you know I lost my husband last year. He died in our little bedroom which was where we stored things. No one has been in that room since and both myself and C just chuck things in there.
I did say that this year I will sort it out. So this means I will be ordering a skip and going through it and making it a room again. I feel ready to be able to do this but at my own pace.
Grief
For some reason this week has been very hard. On Sunday (which I hate Sundays) we went out for a family meal for Mothers Day. We had a lovely time, but everywhere I looked there were families with husbands and that hit me hard.
Also, last week my oldest friend rang me to say her Dad had died. He was ill, but I have known him since I was 11. I do feel for her as know how grief feels, but C can understand fully as she knows what it is like to lose her Dad.
Recipes
I finally did two new recipes last week. Well they are old recipes but changed slightly to be easily adaptable for personal tastes. Plus are so quick and easy to make, which I will be sharing this week.
Budgies

Every morning, I get up and make a hot drink for both myself and C. We then have that time to get ready to start the day. Just after I had given C her drink she sent me a message with the first two pictures. Pesto, who we got last Summer was not himself.
I went in and he was just cuddled up to her. She had to go to college as she had an exam. I said I would keep him down with me and my Mum looked after him cuddled to her while I dropped C off. She got a vets appointment for him later that day.
I had him cuddled to me, and I thought he was starting to feel better as he was looking around and was investigating my sofa. I went to pick C up and left him with my Mum. We came in and she said he had just looked up at her but he obviously had gone as C picked him up she was seconds too late. We popped to the garden centre and got some plants and my Dad buried him with the other two and planted the plants
Footprints

Last month C announced she had a delivery that day of something to enable her to get footprints and she had seen on TikTok someone got them of their budgie. She decided to do Pippy’s as she was her first budgie.
Pippy had other ideas and did not co-operate, so she tried Pesto and managed to get him to co-operate. This gave her a lot of comfort yesterday and she is going to have his feet tattooed to one of her shoulders as they all love sitting on your shoulder or head.
Memorial Pieces

In January C and I decided on the memorial jewellery we wanted. Finally, C’s necklace arrived last week and is stunning
Glass Art Fusion

One of my lovely followers contacted me after I posted about the ashes jewellery. She has her own business where she makes pocket hearts and more and can add ashes to them. Pam kindly offered to make myself and C one.
We both chose a robin design and they are both beautiful. I could not decide so let C choose which one she wanted. C chose the top one and I have the lower one. We carry them in our bags during the day, and I place mine by the side of my bed at night. They do gives us both a lot of comfort.
I can honestly say, that from sending Pam the ashes to receiving the pocket hearts. She was so kind and let me know he had arrived safely, that he had been well behaved and was ready to come home.

With Easter weeks away I have been working on my Easter Gift Guide for 2026. It is great if you are looking for something a little different to the chocolate eggs.

so many beautiful pieces – love the memorial jewellery as precious keepsakes
I am loving our memorial jewellery and gives us a lot of comfort
I too thought winter was behind us and then all of a sudden this past week we’ve been in 30s-50sF’ . I wish your father luck and hope C feels better! I’ve been battling with migraines my whole life and not many people understand how painful and debilitating they can be, C is really strong!
We have had some lovely Spring weather these past few days. Migraines are a nightmare and now trying to get an appointment arranged as she has no more treatment left and they were supposed to be arranging an appointment.
I know how you feel about Sundays, after my dad died my Mum she said hated Sundays, I always tried to make a point of visiting her sometime during the day. Sorry to hear about your budgie but I love the idea about a footprint
Sundays are horrible which is why I try to do something with C. The footprints are such a lovely thing she got from him
Looks like you’ve had a challenging week and I am sure that the coming week will be a good one for you. Please take care of yourself.
It has been a challenging week, next week is going to be challenging as well for other reasons
That memorial jewelry is so lovely; what a lovely way to have those memories.
It is stressful to deal with heating issues in the winter. Hopefully that can be resolved!
The jewellery is lovely, I was talking to my friend about them yesterday as she recently lost her dad
I need to declutter so badly, I feel my house is a mess now…I can’t wait to do it asap, hopefully next month.
I need to do this and book a skip as think that will get me motivated
The star necklace is so beautiful
It is stunning and perfect
Sometimes it’s those little reminders of not having something that do hit the worst. Your necklace came out amazing, what a fantastic piece.
It is those reminders that hit the worst. The necklace is beautiful C is so happy with it
I am so sorry about your budgie – that is sad news. Wishing you a lovely week and hoping that everything you are needing to replace and do goes smoothly.
It came from nowhere he was fine and went down so quickly
I love the memorial pieces. Beautiful designs. Sorry to hear about Pesto.
The necklace is stunning and the pocket hearts really are beautiful and give so much comfort. It was such a shock losing Pesto but C got her feet tattoo done this morning
I think clearing out the room will help with the grief in the long run. Thinking about sorting it out is probably what ramped up the grief short-term
Honestly it is going to take a lot of work but it does need doing and hopefully will be a lot easier than I first thought it would be
Oh, gosh. I can’t believe those migraines are still troubling her. I really hope she gets an answer one day.
I chased the hospital yesterday to see if they have an appointment for her
