We are mid week which means it is time for me to write my weekly round up post Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 15/05/2024. Where I share what has been happening this past week.

Health

This week has been very hard for C, she is really struggling with her chronic illness. We recently had ME Awareness Day which I shared my annual post. She has the tell tale dark rings around her eyes, which is worrying me.
We had her zoom appointment with her ME Consultant yesterday, which as always was lovely. He is so understanding of the illness. Sadly, we have to see him privately, but he really is worth the money. He is so respected with ME sufferers. Sadly, there are rumours of him retiring, and he did end the consultation with make an appointment to see me later in the year. I tried he is totally booked up, so waiting for January slots to open.
He asked C so many questions, and we are now waiting for his letter, which will also go to our GP for new medications to start on. Aso a private prescription for a medication that GP’s will not prescribe. Although I am going to try and see if our GP will now she is an adult.
Baby Budgies

The baby budgies are now 3 weeks old, they have grown so much in the past week. These are Pippy and Gizmos cousins. So we can only have one if it is female. As we do not want any babies from them. Gizmo is paired with Snowy so getting a girls is the only option.
I have a lovely video of Pippy giving kisses to the green one (she loves green budgies). I will share it on Instagram later. It keeps changing but we now think the green one is a girl, and maybe one of the rainbows is a girl. Think if she is definitely a girl we will be getting the green.
Let’s Talk

I have not done my discussion post yet this week. It has been so busy with C struggling so much and being non stop at home with various things. I will get a post for us all to discuss live next week.
Fathers Day

With Fathers Day weeks away, my Fathers Day Gift Guide went live yesterday. Which is full of great gift ideas. Plus there are more gifts to be added.
What I Am Loving

One thing I do not cope well with is the heat. I love the sunshine but when it gets to hot I struggle. Add menopause and hot flushes into the balance, and it is a nightmare.
Sleep is something I need or I feel so out of it the next day, and like everyone I struggle to sleep in the heat. The more I try the hotter and more uncomfortable, I seem to get.
I recently agreed to a review to try a cooling duvet and pillow cases. I thought with the warmer weather coming, it would be great to be prepared and see if these work.
Last week, we had the weather to try these to see if they did work. I received the Elegear Cooling Quilt and Elegear Cooling Pillowcases to try.
The Technical Bit
- Specially for hot sleepers or night sweats. The cooling duvet uses Japanese Arc-Chill cool technology fabric (Q-Max 0.5) to brilliantly absorb and release body heat, and reduce skin temperature by 2-5°C instantly. It takes time for a quilt to dissipates heat, so opening air conditioners and fans can add cooling. Suitable for Summer, Spring and Autumn use.
- This summer quilt is filled with DARCON fibers to form a 3-D hollow structure which works well in adjusting the humidity and temperature thus provides you with the cosiest sleeping environment. Its super-soft touch feels like silk, but is cooler and more breathable than silk.
- he quilt fully machine washable without colour loss and shrinkage. NOTE: The quilt can not be put in the dryer for drying. Cool materials cannot withstand high temperatures, so please dry in an environment below 30 °C, not ironing, not dry cleaning, not bleaching.
My Thoughts
I am terrible for buying products that offer the world and then just do not deliver. Thinking how can a quilt keep me cool during hot nights. So I put the quilt on my bed, changed my pillow cases and settled down for a good nights sleep.
Did it work? Well all I can say is I assume it did, as I did not wake up hot and bothered. I stayed at a lovely cool temperature all night. I asked my husband what he thought as he is not sleeping great due to an injury at the moment. He said it did keep him cool.
Would I recommend – yes I would and will be buying one for C now so she is ok during the summer.
Giveaways

Don’t forget to enter my little giveaway, not forgetting there are daily entries as well.

Thank you for the brand intro to Elegear. Never heard of them so good to know there is bed linen that cools.
I see you haven’t been active on the blog or Insta for a little while. Remembering the comments in your last post, I just wanted to send you warmest wishes and hope you’re feeling better soon.
The cooling blanket is great and was talking to my friend about it yesterday. Thank you still ongoing and driving me mad now
You got so cute birdies. I need to check out your Father’s Day gift guide as I am confused what to gift my dad this year.
They are cute I think we are getting the green one if she is a girl. I hope I give you some inspiration
That quilt sounds amazing I need to check it out. I am glad you got a good nights sleep using it.
The quilt is amazing. So much so I have ordered one for C now as well
So sorry to hear about C’s recent flareup. I will keep her in my prayers that she starts to feel better soon.
Thank you, hopefully the new medication will help when we are able to start it. Also not helping she has a rotten cold at the moment as well
I need to find something special for my hubby and you certainly visit your Father’s Day gift guide.
I hope I have given you some inspiration
I did not realize there was such a thing as a cooling duvet. You have definitely sparked my attention.
Neither did I, but it is a game changer. I have slept much better and not waking up all hot and bothered. Definitely worth buying, I have just purchased one for my daughter
I also struggle with sleeping in this heat – so I will take a look at your suggested products. Your little birdies look adorable!!
I can honestly say the duvet and pillows do work, I suffer with being hot at night and since using these I do not wake up feeling hot and bothered. Am going to buy C one now
The baby budgies have grown so much, and I can’t believe how quickly they have developed their coloured feathers!
They have grown very fast, apparently the green one is quite bald at the moment as one of C’s friends budgies plucked its feathers. They will grow back though
The budgies are killing me with their adorableness. I actually had never heard of budgies until I found your site. I’m obsessed!
They are too cute, I waste so much time talking to them and watching them. Pippy always comes running to see me when she hears me or screams for me when I go past without saying hello
OMG, they are so cute! They’re growing so fast. I’m in love.
They do grow so quickly, we will be getting one in 3-4 weeks if one is a girl
I can’t get over the baby budgies, they’re adorable…I would love to have a couple as pets, they’re so cute.
They are, I saw C’s friend when I picked her up from college, and was asking about them
