Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 04/03/2026

Not only have we made it through another week. We have also got through another month and we have had a day of Spring. Today is grey and chilly out there and we even had fog this morning. This means that it is time for my weekly Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 04/03/2026.

My Week

This Week

Health

We now have the date for my dads operation for later this month. More hospital appointments with the latest one yesterday. We are hoping that this is now the last one before his operation. Although it is going to be quite brutal, we all just want it over with now so he can recover

C, got her test results finally and they came back negative. Next step is a camera which she is not looking forward too. She is also have problems walking with a pain in her leg so am trying to get her an appointment for after college today.

Grief

We have now got through all the firsts. I kept hearing all through last year that the first year you are in shock and the second year is the hardest. I honestly, though nothing would be worse than last year. How wrong was I, I seem to be in tears all the time this past month.

My sleep has also gone backwards, not that I have slept a full night in over a year. But now I am awake more than asleep.

University

C got offers for all 4 places she applied for, 3 conditional offers and 1 unconditional offer. She accepted the unconditional offer (which was her top choice) last week. We also had an applicants day there on Saturday and loved it.

For now, we are waiting on next steps and will then have a huge shopping trip for everything she will need. I am so proud of her and excited for her. But also dreading her leaving me.

Recipes

I seem to be getting very stuck in my meals these days. Probably due to C struggling with her health. So, am going to start trying out new recipes and sharing the ones we like with you all. As we all need meal inspirations at times.

A Little Rant

Van drivers who think they own the roads. I know there are some lovely van drivers on the road as well. Last Friday we had just left another hospital appointment and we were stopped at traffic lights. You have to wait for the filter light to go green and there is a box junction so was not moving forward. He was right on the back of my car tooting me. Usually, I don’t react but with everything going on I was not in my right head space. I moved forward and hit into a bollard (luckily it was one of the bendy ones. He followed me for miles right on the boot of my car (all roads were 20mph).

He then went beside me and smirked having a right go at me with my parents in the car. He then called me the c word and a lot of abuse. I drove the rest of the way home crying my eyes out and shaking. I felt very vulnerable.

When you drive please have consideration for other road users. You have no idea what they are going through.

  1. I feel for you getting stuck in the meals. It happens sometimes but is never a good feeling. Hope you will experiment with the recipes more and find those that will help you get on top of things!

    1. It is strange how you get into a rut with meal times, I have got ingredients to try some new recipes this week. If they are a success I will be sharing them

  2. That’s so exciting for C that her unconditional was her top choice, you must be so proud. I hate a lot of van drivers on the road too, they think being in a bigger vehicle they can put pressure on others x

  3. I hope your dad’s operation goes smoothly. Also, congrats on C getting accepted to several universities. So exciting!

  4. C has done really well to get those offers, congratulations to her. Don’t get me started on some van drivers, they seem to think they own the road with no consideration for others

  5. Congratulations to C on so many offers, such a clever girl! I hope your Dad’s op goes well x

  6. How exciting for C to have selected her University! She is amazing! Hope your dads op goes well

    1. It is now a waiting game until his operation, although he had a call yesterday as he has lost weight and can not afford to lose anymore before the operation. The referal for my daughter has now been done so another wait for a hospital appointment

  7. well done C – you must be delighted and proud and biting back the dread. and that driver well I would like to give them a slice of my Derbyshire swear words

  8. C is smart…I am so glad she will be going to the uni she wanted, that is perfect, I am certain she will do really well.

  9. I’m so sorry for your road experiences this week. I’d have been exactly the same! I don’t like driving at the best of times, but especially when there’s people like that on the road. Some people have no consideration.

It must be so bittersweet with C heading off to university. Amazing that she got all four offers! Well done to her.

    1. I am usually a fairly confident driver but he just got me at the wrong time, sadly some people think they own the roads and everyone else should move out of their way.
I am so proud of C but dreading her leaving me
