The nights are drawing in and it is getting noticeably darker early. For me, this means I draw my curtains and light my candles and grab a book, as this is now the perfect time for new books. Luckily my daughter has found her love of books again. She spent a few years where she just could not read due to brain fog.
I have teamed up with Books2door to bring you some lovely book sets as chosen by C.

Death Note: The Complete Box Set by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata: Books 1-13

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects – and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life?
Light tests the boundaries of the Death Note’s powers as L and the police begin to close in. Luckily Light’s father is the head of the Japanese National Police Agency and leaves vital information about the case lying around the house. With access to his father’s files, Light can keep one step ahead of the authorities. But who is the strange man following him, and how can Light guard against enemies whose names he doesn’t know?
Death Note: The Complete Box Set by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata. Is a lovely set of 13 books for any manga lover to read.
The Virginia Woolf Collection

A lovely set of 5 books, the The Virginia Woolf Collection includes –
The Waves
A beautiful and poetic novel. It begins with six children playing in a garden by the sea and follows their lives. As they grow up and experience friendship, love and grief at the death of their beloved friend Percival. Regarded by many as her greatest work. The Waves is also seen as Virginia Woolf’s response to the loss of her brother Toby, who died when he was twenty-six.
To The Lighthouse
The serene and maternal Mrs Ramsay, the tragic yet absurd Mr Ramsay. Together with their children and assorted guests, are holidaying on the Isle of Skye. From the seemingly trivial postponement of a visit to a nearby lighthouse. Virginia Woolf constructs a remarkable and moving examination of the complex tensions and allegiances of family life. One of the great literary achievements of the twentieth century, To the Lighthouse is Virginia Woolf’s most popular novel.
A Room of One’s Own and Three Guineas
This volume combines two books which were among the greatest contributions to feminist literature in the twentieth century. Together they form a brilliant attack on sexual inequality, A Room of One’s Own, first published in 1929, is a witty, urbane and persuasive argument against the intellectual subjection of women, particularly women writers. The sequel, Three Guineas, is a passionate polemic which draws a startling comparison between the tyrannous hypocrisy of the Victorian patriarchal system and the evils of fascism.
MRS Dalloway
In this vivid portrait of one day in a woman’s life, Clarissa Dalloway is preoccupied with the last-minute details of party she is to give that evening. As she readies her house she is flooded with memories and re-examines the choices she has made over the course of her life.
Orlando
As his tale begins, Orlando is a passionate young nobleman whose days are spent in rowdy revelry, filled with the colourful delights of Queen Elizabeth’s court. By the close, he will have transformed into a modern, thirty-six-year-old woman and three centuries will have passed. Orlando will not only witness the making of history from its edge, but will find that his unique position as a woman who knows what it is to be a man will give him insight into matters of the heart.
These sets will make lovely gifts, whether for yourself or a loved one. They also offer a subscription box for the younger ones which you can find more about here.

My son had a love of books when he was younger. I wish he still had it. It’s like torture to him now to read (rolling my eyes). He still talks about the books he loved as a kid though, especially the series he would get lost in for days at a time. Glad to hear your daughter’s love for reading has been rekindled. Gives me hope. 😉
He may get his love of reading back one day
These are some really good choices. I am not much in to reading. I can share this post with my husband who loves reading and he will like these choices.
