Meet The Blogger – Asha

meet the blogger -asha

Following on in my Meet The Blogger series, today I am introducing you to Asha who blogs over at Yeah Lifestyle.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

Hi, I am Asha Carlos, Owner and Lead Blogger from Yeah Lifestyle a Lifestyle and Review Blog covering Manchester, Cheshire and Staffordshire.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I am photographer by profession and have always loved writing and often wrote for local and international magazines in Asia. When I moved to the UK 5 years ago, I decided to start sharing my reviews on products, restaurants and services on the blog, as a way for me to express myself as I found that not many blog sites did reviews of the places I wanted to visit and this is how my blog started. To help others discover new places and products by giving honest reviews.

HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

The gist of it has remained, but I am expanding rapidly and now even travel outside of Manchester, Cheshire and Staffordshire for gigs, reviews and events. Also I started of as a single blogger but now have 2 other bloggers with me Collete Warbrook and Lex Ward.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

Seeing how involved and funny my kids are especially when we go on reviews as I always ask their opinion.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

I would say when I first started three years ago I got turned down a lot by brands and PR agents and it was hard work. I am blessed to say that now I am being contacted by these same agents asking if I would work for them.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?

Take your time, blog about what you love, come out with your own style and as you go along you will find your own voice.

WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE BEFORE YOU STARTED?

That blogging is a full time job! I can’t tell you how times I have stayed up late and the number of hours of work I put in each week. Its a lot of hard work but yes, the perks are immense as well.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

Spending time with my family, going to the movies, readings, going for walks in the parks, picnicking and travelling

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?

Give money to my friends and family. I think sharing is caring and the more you give the more you receive.

WHO IS YOUR BLOGGING HERO AND WHY?

I don’t have a blogging hero per say as I enjoy reading all sorts of blogs and learn from everyone. But if I had to name one person it would be Zoella, I love how she has pioneered vlogging and now is a celebrity in her own right

I can relate with some of her experiences. When I quit my job to go full time blogging, it was met with a lot of raised eyebrows and negative reactions from both family and friends. But I proved them wrong! With hard work, you can find success in blogging!

Blogging really is one of those jobs that could take every second of your day if you let it. I scaled back a long time ago, though I still have fun blogging regularly. 🙂

I can relate with her on not knowing how time consuming blogging can be. However, it is quite fulfilling so every second I spend on my blog is definitely worth it. Thanks for interviewing her.
