Keeping Busy with The Happy Puzzle Company

As you know my life changed dramatically six months ago. Life as I knew it was no more. Weekends and Bank Holidays are the worst times for me. I try to do one productive thing around the home each weekend. Plus finding new ways to keep my brain occupied and not dwell so much in the past. This is why I have been Keeping Busy with The Happy Puzzle Company this weekend.

The Happy Puzzle Company offers a fantastic range of over 300 award-winning puzzles, games, challenges and puzzle books to both families and schools. Started 33 years ago by former CEO Gavin Ucko, Happy Puzzle has produced a huge range of unique puzzles and games, many of which have gone on to become multi-award winners.

The Amazing Clock Kit

The Amazing Clock Kit

For ages 5+ the Amazing Clock Kit should be easy for a 50 something woman. Luckily the instructions were easy to follow although it did take me longer than the suggested time.

Both sides of the wind-up clock are transparent, meaning that the workings of the clock are completely visible. Children will be able to see why the different cogs and springs rotate and how they cause the pendulum to swing, turn the hands of the clock and make the bell chime too.

This is great for kids to learn how a clock works. The instructions are easy and to hear the bell chime gives you a satisfactory sense of achievement.

The Genius Square

The Genius Square

Named as the cleverest game ever invented, The Genius Square, really does get those brain cells working. For ages 6+ you can play solo or with an opponent.

The aim of each of the 62,208 possible puzzles is to complete the square using the nine coloured shapes, once the seven ‘blockers’ have been positioned. There may be times when it seems impossible. There will ALWAYS be at least one solution… and that’s why it’s called The Genius Square!

You start ny each player receives a Genius Square grid (two are included) and a set of nine coloured shapes, plus seven ‘blocker’ pieces. Roll all seven of the dice together and place a ‘blocker’ piece into the squares matching the seven co-ordinates that appear on the dice. Now race your opponent to fill every other space on the grid using the nine shapes.

This does seem impossible at times, I nearly gave up so many times but stuck with it. I left it for a bit and kept going back when my head felt ready to tackle this. With a stubborn determination not to beat me. I am going to challenge C to a game of this next.

Lost 4 Words

Lost 4 Words

A great family fun game Lost 4 Words is for ages 7+ and can be played with 2 – 4 players.

A fun quick-fire game, that it pays to keep your cool with. You get a card that has 4 words and you have to find the word that links them all. You would think this is easy, but believe me when under pressure and being teased by your opponents. It is harder than you think.

With a huge 500 challenges included. Be the first player or team to correctly identify the connecting word on 15 different cards and reach the finish line on the scoreboard.

My Thoughts

I loved all three of these, and perfect for a lazy bank holiday weekend. With the colder months coming soon. We will all be looking for ways to keep entertained in doors. The Happy Puzzle Company have so many great products to choose from.

Which would you love to try first?
