Homemade Fudge For Christmas Gifting

I have been mentioning recently, that C and I have decided to up our gift giving game. We have been making a few homemade gifts for family and friends. Today I am sharing my Homemade Fudge For Christmas Gifting.

Homemade fudge

You may think that making fudge is a daunting task. You should all know me by now I like to find easy recipes.

I have been making this fudge for years and it is so easy to make. I use the recipe from the Carnation website.

Table of Contents

Ingredients

1 tin of Condensed Milk
150ml Milk
450g Demerara Sugar
115g Butter

A Couple Of Drops Vanilla Essence

How To Make

  • Line a tin or baking dish with parchment paper
  • In a large non stick pan add all the ingredients
  • Melt over a low heat stirring all the time – until the sugar has dissolved
  • Steadily bring to the boil stirring all the time for around 10-15 minutes
  • If you have a sugar thermometer keep going until it reaches 113-115C. If you do not have a thermometer. Drop a little mixture into a bowl of ice cold water – if it forms a soft, round ball that doesn’t stick to your fingers then it should be ready.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and leave to cool for 5 minutes.
  • This is also the time you can jazz your fudge up and add other ingredients
  • Beat the mixture until it loses its shine and becomes very thick. This is when it gets hard work but worth the results. The longer you beat it once it starts to thicken the more crumbly your fudge will become. Keep beating until it comes away from the sides of the pan and sticks to the spoon
  • In your prepared tin tip the fudge in and flatten down and leave to cool
  • Then you can cut into squares.

Gifting

I purchased some clear bags and filled with fudge and added to my homemade hampers for family. The fudge tastes great and is such a lovely little personal touch.

I only made vanilla fudge this year but there are so many different variations you can make.

What is your favourite flavour of fudge?
