The Diary Of A Menopausal Mum

Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 07/05/21

Last year I started a new series of diary of a menopausal mum, which stopped over lockdown as it would have been the same thing and rants every week.  Two weeks ago I decided to bring it back in case you missed it you can find last weeks post here.

I may talk about the downside to the menopause, but this is more of a light hearted series looking at the funny side of the menopause and being a Mum.

One thing I have always found a chore is shaving my legs etc, I have tried every razor, cream and waxing method.  When I hit the menopause I noticed hairs on my chin, you know when you were younger and you would see old ladies with chin hair, that was me.  It has been the one thing that has really got me down.

I have often thought about laser treatments, but with one thing and another have never got further than thinking about it.  A few weeks ago when feeling really down I went looking online to see if there are any affordable home laser treatments I could do.  They have always been expensive and I kept thinking could I justify the outlay if it did not work.

Handheld IPL Laser Hair Removal

I came across the laziskin, which was on offer.  Instead of being £280 it was on offer for £90 so I took the plunge and hit buy. The reviews seemed good which helped with my decision.

It arrived and is so easy to use.

  • Shave the areas legs, armpits, face (well I plucked those)
  • use the laser on the areas
  • Repeat once a week for 12 weeks

I am on week 2 now so will keep you posted, but have noticed a slight difference so hoping it works as the reviews have shown.

You may remember in lockdown 1, I broke a front tooth.  With lockdowns etc I still have a broken front tooth.  I have another infection and the antibiotics did not clear, so Tuesday I was at the dentist and given some stronger antibiotics.  The dentist and pharmacist kept stressing you can not drink alcohol.  Last night I took myself off them.

I have never felt so sick and ill in my life, I felt spaced out and so sick (it took me back to my morning sickness days).  I am now waiting to speak to my dentist to see if there is anything else they can give as my next appointment is not for a couple of weeks.

Hot flushes

While everyone is moaning about the weather, with it being so cold and miserable my hot flushes have been more bearable this week.  Although I can not wait for the warmer weather as have been treating myself to some new summer clothes.

Fake tan

One thing my husband always teases me about is how white my legs are, so instead of my usual moisturiser I use after my shower I now include a fake tan.  I have been using St Moriz Professional Golden Glow Tan Moisturiser which I found when looking on Amazon.

I love the colour it gives and you can use it once for a slight glow or the more you use it the deeper the tan. One thing I have found that sometimes you are left with blotchy areas as it washes off.  Which is why I am excited to team up with Village Wax Melts and trying out their Exfoliating Soap Sponges.  I will let you know how I got on.

My brain fog has not got any better, and yesterday I had both my husband and daughter laughing so hard.  But can I remember what it was all about now – no.

How has your week been?

I also had to visit the dentist during lockdown and it was a very strange experience! Great to read your updates 🙂

I could not go as a broken front tooth was apparently not an emergency, which is why I am now having the problems I am and facing having it removed which I am mortified about and having to walk around with no front tooth

Omg your tooth problem sounds horrendous! I hope you get that sorted soon. I need to invest in that lazer treatment for legs if it works! My mum and nan went through the menapause earlier than most so I think I am heading that way, I am 40 this year and I am noticing a hell of a lot of strange things happening to me including terrible nausea, to the point where I was heaving behind my mask in the hairdressers like a lunatic last week. Oh the joys!

My tooth is causing me so much pain at the moment but hopefully not for much longer. I am hoping the lazer works and will be updating as we go on. The nausea his horrible as well

I have an at home laser that I was kindly gifted but I’ve just not got into using, I really need to dig it out and use it. I hope you get good results from yours x

I hope it works and does what it is meant to do, my friend is interested in the results as paid for sessions at £50 a time and they did nothing. I have said if it works she can borrow it.

The weather has been horrible, the fake tan is great and so easy to apply and just gives that bit of colour

Gosh, definitely interesting things to look forward to as we get older, the dentist situation sucks. I just had a tooth extraction and well, I feel your pain.

The Laziskin sounds like a fab device. Sorry to hear about your tooth, its bad that they keep leaving it broken for you.

I am hoping it was a great investment and not another rubbish device but worth a try. I know I am so fed up with my tooth and knowing it will have to be taken out as not repairable now and I will have to walk around without a front tooth for a short time is really getting to me
