Something, that is close to my heart is looking our mine and my families mental health. I have learnt it is something we all suffer with on various levels, no matter who you are. Children seem to be suffering more these days as well. I found that reading books that helped explain anxiety etc, and offered ways to help. Was a huge help to my Daughter. Which is why I have been loving reading DOSE. Which boasts a personal prescription for a happier life and 52 science based ways to get it. Plus read on for my DOSE – The 52 Project Giveaway.

What is the 52 Project

The 52 Project is the brain child of professional coaches Dulcie Swanston and Ian Price. They wanted to combine their skills, knowledge and experience. To create something positive while we were all going through the Covid Pandemic.

It all started in 2020, when Dulcie had an idea which turned into the 52 Project. Every Friday throughout 2021, they shared a science based wellbeing tip on Instagram.

DOSE

DOSE recently launched, aimed to simplify wellbeing by providing tips that cost you little of your time.

What does DOSE stand for?

D is for Dopamine

O is for Oxytocin

S is for Serotonin

E if for Endorphins

The book is rooted in science, based on the four chemicals with superpowers that occur naturally in our bodies and are responsible for a lot of our mental and physical health and wellbeing — dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins.

Each tip aims to trigger one of these chemicals, with suggestions including taking a cold shower, drinking beetroot juice and walking barefoot.

The book is now available to purchase from your local book retailer or Amazon here.

My Thoughts

I only received the book yesterday, what I love is that with each tip you learn the science behind it. Which to me makes a lot of sense. I found reading the science behind it made it much easier to understand. My daughter is desperate to read it once I have finished it.

I also love that the tips are simple such as keep smiling or treat yourself to name 2.

  1. What do I do to make me feel good? I enjoy my hobbies! I love to read. I read a book every 1/2 days! I also love to crochet, and make wearables. I also love to take care of my houseplants, whilst my husband does the gardening, and I enjoy those benefits too! 🌻🌞

  2. Go for a long long walk with family, the woods make me feel better too. I need to find more ways though.

  3. I like getting out in nature with my children, especially this time of year where there is so much new life.

  4. I walk and cycle around my local village and visit an old lady who lives alone and we chat together.

  5. Have a walk round the local rea and look at people’s gardens getting ideas for my tiny plot and watching the wildlife, too.

  6. I love to go for a walk in the local country park. To be surrounded by greenery and listen to the birds. I also like to feed the ducks and geese whilst I am there and watch their antics.

  7. I carve out a bit of time for myself each day. Even if it’s only 10 minutes, undisturbed with a book – it makes a difference.

  8. I try and get out for a walk each morning – as early as possible. It always makes me feel better 🙂

  9. We go out for a drive into the countryside and take a walk. Sometimes we don’t walk far, other times we do. On occasion we haven’t even got out of the car. We find just being away from every day life and looking at nature makes an enormous difference to us.

  10. Walking barefoot sounds appealing but not in this weather. A walk, wellies on, with my dogs always lifts my mood Whatever the weather.

  11. What do I do to feel good? Looong showers, walks, eating my favourite foods and watching Youtube videos.

  12. Great sounding book! I go walking with my husband in the countryside. Just being outdoors, enjoying the fresh air & birdsong always makes me feel better.

  13. I volunteer for a cat rescue. I also look after my own pets and those of my friends, relatives and neighbours.

  14. I go to my allotment plot hours later I come back home a tired happy bunny ready for a soak in an epsom salts bath xx

  15. What a great book. I think when Science backs up an idea, people are more likely to make changes. I would love to find ways to make me happy. I’m actually going to the GP this Monday to speak about my antidepressants and how they’re not working. Maybe some personal prescription will do better.

But usually a nap or walking around the park with music in my ears takes my mind off things

  16. My newest feel good hobby is going to a beach sauna once a month where you sit in a sauna tent and then run into the freezing North Sea. It’s so uplifting.
