Time Saving Hacks In The Kitchen

We all know how busy our lives get, especially with back to work and school. Not to mention after school clubs etc. Which make sit harder for us to prepare tasty home cooked meals every day. Which is why I am sharing some time saving hacks I use in the kitchen.

Bulk Cooking

bulk cooking

Bulk cooking does not have to be preparing lots of meals at the weekend for the week. But cooking extra when you are cooking, such as

  • Pasta Sauces – I have frozen down what was left of the bolognaise sauce for another day. You can get it out of the freezer and just need to cook the pasta
  • Slow cooked beef – I always have enough left to freeze down for another one or two meals. You can have an easy roast in no time. Just cook the potatoes and veg and pop the beef in the oven to warm through

Food Preparation

  • Pre-chop your veg – When preparing veg why not do extra and pop in airtight containers or ziplock bags to use during the week
  • Use Pre-Made Ingredients – if you use a lot of grated cheese – grate more. Use the lazy garlic, ginger or chilli jars
  • Organise Your Workspace – keep your favourite knives, cutting boards, spices where they are easy to use

    Quick Cooking Ideas

    • Use Your Slow Cooker – With your veg prepared in advance the night before. Use your slow cooker which you can pop on as you leave in the morning. You will come home to your house smelling of home comfort foods and ready to serve – Great for stews etc
    • Use Your Air Fryer – I never thought I would use my air fryer as much as I do. I have shared some great recipes for meal ideas that you can prepare and cook in minutes.

As you know I do love quick and easy dinners. My go to lazy meals are the ones where I can just grab a meal I have frozen down.

I also freeze down rice which is great for chillis, stir fry etc.

I know personally cooking can take a lot of time so these are great tips to be more organised and cooking at home instead of resorting to buying ready made food or take-aways.

Great ideas for saving time in the kitchen, especially freezing extra cooked food for another meal. Chopping up veggies in advance is handy too.

I find that frozen veg (I get mine from Farm Foods) is handy, particularly chopped leeks, no waste and chopped onions, saves tears!

I’m a huge, huge fan of bulk cooking. When I make sauce or brown meat, I make extra to freeze for later. If I can make extra of anything I always do..
