As a child I was taught to enjoy books, and remember trips to the library with my Dad. I used to love writers like Enid Blyton and her Wishing Chair series. Because of my love of reading, I wanted my children to find the joy of reading as well.
C used to love reading and was a real book worm. Sadly this is one thing she struggled with when she became ill. Now she is enjoying a reading challenge and finding a way to start reading again. When my Grandchildren was born, I wanted them to enjoy reading as well.

It’s Never Too Early
When mine were little before they could read we used to read books, point out colours or count how many people or cars there were etc. As they grew we would make up our own stories to the illustrations. Or when reading a new book talk about what we think may happen next. I am now loving reliving these times with my grandchildren now. Which is why I have teamed up with Books2door to share with you how great the experience of reading is.
Oi Frog and Friends
I love finding books that are fun to read, and children will love. Which is why I started in the New Books section and chose the Oi Frog and Friends Series which is a collection 7 Books for 2-6 year olds. The set includes –

I also chose a selection from their best sellers, and what better author for kids is Julia Donaldson. We all know her stories, but some I have not read or heard of before. Which is why I chose Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler Early Readers 8 Books Collection Set. The set includes 8 books –
- Stick Man – Stick Man lives in the family tree With his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three.
- Zog – Zog is the keenest dragon in school. He’s also the most accident-prone, flying into trees and even setting his own wing on fire. My Opinion
We have always loved books as a family, it helped as my Mother in law used to work for a publishers before she retired. This meant we were always receiving books. These two are great sets for children, maybe as an alternative Easter gift. They will love the stories (yes I have read them) and will last them for a very long time. Maybe hand down to their children in years to come.

It is lovely to see our kids enjoy reading as much as we do
I am loving this and yes… reading is so essential and to the your kids into reading at an early age is key. I was a building a library for my kids from when they were babies… before they were even born and my kids truly loved their book collection and adding to it whenever they could too. I just found a great bedtime stories app perfect for getting the kiddos t sleep. Reading is everything and thank you for sharing!
I was the same, when C was a couple of weeks old I had the whole collection of Beattrix Potter
I love reading and libraries are so much friendlier than when I was young. We had a very scary librarian. The children’s section was very small in the corner of the library and when I progressed from children”s books to adult books, Agatha Christie was a favourite, the librarian wouldn’t let me book them out and my Dad had to do it for me.

I remember my aunt would take us to the library every weekend, we were obsessed with reading Goosebumps, Tracey Beaker or any other adventure book.

These are perfect books for the younger children, but they have so many different sets and themes I had my eye on a few cook books
I liked the Harry Potter series. Reading is really the best and I hope kids continue to enjoy books. It’s such a simple life luxury.
I have never read Harry Potter
My favorite book to read as a kid was Go Ask Alice. It was a quick read which was important for me as I wasn’t really interested in reading big books but it really opened me up to reading more.
My daughter had a book she would always go to, and it does help to open you to the world of books and reading

I have always been a bookworm, I remember learning with some of the Peter and Jane books. But for me Jacqueline Wilson and Roald Dahl were some of my favourite childhood books x

My kids have always loved when I read with them. It’s a lovely way to spend time together and do something enjoyable. Zog sounds like a fun book, I’m sure my son would enjoy it. I do like the sound of the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler Early Readers 8 Books Collection Set. It has some great books to enjoy with my son.

In our family we’ve read all the classic Julia Donaldson’s book but like you, there are some I only just heard of. We make sure we read every night in our household and sometimes in the day too if we can fit it. The kids definitely enjoy books that rhyme and has a sense of humour. When I was young I loved Enid Blyton too. I of course loved reading Roald Dahl, Paul Jennings and the Goosebump collection. When I was really young it was the Biff, Chip and Kipper collection. Sadly i lost the love of reading due to the pressure my parents used to put on me to read and then copy out novels and novels of books. I wasn’t allowed out of my room until I copied out at least 20 pages but saying that, I hope my kids can find the love for reading.
I think it is one of the most important things we can do for our children. C was always a book worm. When she became ill, she just could not read anymore. It is so lovely now to see her reading again, as she did miss it.
The Julia Donaldson books are such a massive hit in our house. My daughter, who is now 11 started out with them and they’ve been passed to my boys who are now 6 and we’ve added to the collection as more have come out. They are wonderful books.
