Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 13/05/2026

Here we are stumbling into another Wednesday, where somehow I have got through another week. This means it is time for my weekly Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 13/05/2026.

I know I have been quiet and barely around but I seem to be living in hospitals at the moment.

My Week

This Week

Health

Last week I had my diabetic health check and the results are coming in. Some a little scary but I have been told stress can cause certain areas to go sky high. So am trying my hardest to de-stress

C had an endoscopy two weeks ago, and is still in a lot of pain as they put a tube up her nose, which has caused nasal trauma apparently. If she had discomfort or anything wrong she had to go to an a&e department with ENT attached. This was perfect as they did this at the hospital my dad is under. Apparently, as she has no nose bleed they can not help her.

My Dad

The reason I am barely around at the moment. Last Thursday, he had a routine follow up outpatients appointment. He ended up having one tooth out that day and then staying in hospital and going under a general anaesthetic on Saturday morning to remove another one.

Sunday he had a CT scan on his chest as they had seen something. Then yesterday we were at the Marsden having his mask made ready for radiotherapy. Today we are back as he has to have the planning scan of where to target the radiotherapy. It is all getting very real now.

Grief

I am struggling a lot at the moment. My sleep is pretty non existent and I struggling with not having my husband by my side in all of this.

He would be the one taking some of the burden off me. Cheering me up and making me smile and laugh. I am struggling, but being the only child it is all on me.

Time Out

C and I did manage a bit of time out on Sunday evening. I managed to book us tickets to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. The last two tickets available as well. It was so nice to be able to turn our phones off and not be disturbed. We went to Everyman and enjoyed the waiter service bringing us food and drinks.

The film was great as well. Sometimes after such a long break waiting for the next one it can lack something or not live up to expectations. But we both really enjoyed it and did not feel let down.

What I Am Loving

Pom Stitch Tassel

Pom Stitch Tassel

Although aged 6+ these are also great for any age. If you made pom poms when you were younger. You will love Pom Stitch Tassel’s range of kits.

The kits contain everything you will need to make your pom poms, apart from glue, pencil and paper and a guide on how to make your pom poms.

I was sent the Tropical Garland Craft Kit, to make a garland on pineapples and watermelons.

They have kits for a variety of themes you will love to make.

  1. I totally understand why your stress level is shooting up but as another person said, the start of radiotherapy will minimize your dad’s hospital visits. Please take good care of yourself.

    1. Thank you, my stress levels are high at the moment I can feel it but as soon as I do try to take time out it goes up again for various reasons. Onc3e the radiotherapy starts it will be appointments daily for 6 weeks but set times so can be a bit easier for me to arrange things for myself

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s teeth. Also, I hope his radiotherapy treatment goes smoothly. Your movie outing with your daughter sounds like a much needed break!

  3. A friend of mine is diabetic, and her stress is the main cause. For some reason, she can’t calm her life. I’m a widow too, and not having my rock with me makes life hard to deal with. Praying for healing powers for your family.

    1. Being a widow is so hard as you do not have that one person who can be your rock and keep you calm. I just can not see things changing as soon as I try to calm things then another day arrives and more stress and drama

  4. You have had such a touch time, I’m not surprised your stress levels are so high. Hopefully once the radiotherapy begins it will reduce the number of hospital visits.

  5. I hope your health improves. I’m also diabetic and struggle with stress affecting my health. It is tricky to de-stress especially when you’ve got so much to deal with. It must be frustrating that there was nothing they could do to help C.

    1. I know my stress levels are not helping, I do have a dr appointment for a couple of weeks to discuss my health. I do feel for C, we were at the drs this morning as her nose is still very painful

  6. Stress can definitely wreak havoc on your body. Fortunately, if you can reduce it, you can help those numbers improve.

    1. I just need to find a way to de-stress but that is easier said than done, even sitting going through emails I have my mum coming in asking me questions or looking at me like `i should have the answer

  7. I can’t wait to watch The Devil’s Wear Prada 2, just like you mentioned. I’ve been reading online about how good the movie was. I will try to book a ticket on Saturday.

    1. Sadly my results are not great, but not had any contact from my surgery yet so not sure what to do. Stress is a big factor though
